Fuzzy and flickering picture

Try going into set up menu and look for a screen degauzing function or try setting the screen temp. to warmer or cooler.

In such cases, we have to ensure that it is not the input device that is causing this problem. So, please switch your input device to something you are sure, works. If you notice same problem, look for loose contacts in inter connecting cables and jacks. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

Have you updated the video driver in the laptop, there have been cases where the screen gives a variety of symptoms because the driver was outdated, if that fails! as crazy as this sounds do a fresh install of your operational system. I serviced a laptop with a flickering screen, I reloaded windows and got rid of the problem.

The external monitor has proven there is no problem with the video graphics card, I'am concerned that customers have complained about faulty screens.
I have changed a lot of displays without issue, there is a major circuit board mounted behind the screen that plays a roll in picture production so if something goes wrong you get all kinds of symptoms from fuzzy images to multi color lines to a blank screen. I would suggest getting your money back because of his track record, also go online to Samsung and contact customer support and the technical department to see if something was over looked. Question! is this a new or used LCD display?

Sounds like its in pal mode. With no dvd in it, go to menu and see if thats the case. Switch to another setting to see if that helps

Fuzzy is a funny word. I never use it to describe a picture problem. That because fuzzy can go too many different ways. There is snowy fuzzy, blurry fuzzy, grainy fuzzy, and demodulated fuzzy. If the set goes out of focus intermittently that has something to do with the focus ciruitry. If it goes grainy that is a front end problem, usually tuner related. The other types of fuzzy are generally associated with problems in video processing some where. So, which is it?

Oh, and BTW that unit has three small picture tubes in it, one red, one blue, and one green. It doesn't have a 'bulb'.

you may have a convergence problem. need to replace the stk 392-040 2 eq..

humm.. could be a crt or a high voltage problem..flyback transformer or high voltage splitter... have a tech check it out for you.

do you have a model number?

The flicker could be caused by a bad solder connection arcing or even a bad picture tube. If you notice the screen getting drawed in from the sides as well as top and bottom it may be in the power supply regulation circuits, but the focustat around the area of the high voltage transformer could also be breaking down. If it's over about 8 years old, I would replace it with a HDTV set. Check out the latest issue of Consumer reports for ideas.
