Most likely the update of Windows has doomed your webcam.
Many devices that were supported in previous versions of Windows are not supported by Windows 7.
You might try checking the Toshiba web site to see if they have updated drivers for Windows 7. If you provide the model number of the laptop, I can help you check.

Just connected a Philips webcam (SPC230NC) to work with skype, but the computer keeps rebooting when I try to use skype.

Please remove and reinstall the Skyp. If the issue not resolved please remove the web cam and open the skyp. Try tp reinstall the web cam driver.

Is it possible to update my T. satellite 2805-s402?

Although it may be possible to upgrade your Toshiba Satellite 2805 S402 in terms of memory, hard drive and even possibly video card, today's software are calling for a lot more memory and processor speed than a few years ago. So although you may be able to, I do not recommend spending that kind of cash on updating your laptop. Again, I do not know of your budget and would hate to put you in any unnecessary debt.
In terms of getting a web cam for the device, that is quite possible, once you get a web cam that is compatible with your O/S (Operating system) you should be fine. Try not to get one that is too taxing on your RAM as this may create an issue for you when you are using it.

I cannot view my friend, he has a web cam I do not, but I can't figure out how to do it. Do I need to download the new yaho, I am trying to view him through windows live, h has a yahoo addy also

There are many inconsistencies between Yahoo! IM and Windows Live. Basically, you can connect to members of each, but the status may not update correctly and other features like web page sharing may not work. My recommendation is if most of your friends are on Yahoo! IM, then switch to Yahoo! IM. Lastest is version 9. Version 10 is in beta.

This usually happens when the cam is still being used by another application. Go to Task Manager and see if windows live messenger is still running. If so close it in Task Manager then try to run the cam again in yahoo messenger.
