Question about Lexicon RV-8 V2.0 Amplifier

1 Answer

I just purchased a brand new, in the box lexicon rv-8. It was working fine for a week, then, while left on overnight, went into brown out mode. The standby power switch did not turn the unit off so I flipped the on/off switch in back of the unit. The unit restarted but will not play any audio from any of the inputs. What is going on? P.S. I know that there was a firmware update for this unit but I have not installed it yet.

Did you try this....

In the event of a power outage, the RV-8 will display a BROWN
OUT!! PRESS STANDBY message. To turn the unit on, use the
STANDBY button. For more information, see “POWER
MANAGEMENT” on page 3-3....

POWER MANAGEMENT ON, OFF

"Setup" >> "Power Management"

Opens the POWER MANAGEMENT menu, which is used to automatically
put the RV-8 into standby mode during brownouts.
When set to ON, the RV-8 detects low voltage levels or a momentary
loss of power and puts the device in standby mode. In the event of a
power brown out, the RV-8 will display a BROWN OUT!! PRESS
STANDBY message. To turn the unit back on, use the front panel
STANDYBY button.

When set to OFF, the RV-8 will attempt to function during a
momentary power loss, however software settings may become
corrupt and need to be reset.
When the RV-8 is in standby mode, pressing the button turns the
unit on and activates all zones that were active in the previous
operating session.

The RV-8 does not power on.
1. Make sure the rear-panel power switch is set to the | (“on”)
position.
2. Attempt to power on the RV-8 with the front-panel Standby
button and remote control On button.
3. Examine the power cord to ensure a good connection between
the rear-panel AC input connector and the wall outlet.
4. Check the electrical circuit and breaker.

If the RV was level when it did not function. First you will want to open the rear vent of the fridge on the RV and check for a yellow residue above the burner area. If you do see that, then you will require a replacement cooling unit because the pipe ruptured. It is common in all new RV fridges that the cooling units lets go within 3 to 7 years. Do a factory reset to this TV, and then check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Amplification does not work

It sounds like a source slecton issue. Try the following and if that does not help I would start with a simple stereo setup and source and work up from there.

The RV-8 is powered on, but there is no audio.
1. Make sure volume level is audible. Volume level can be
increased with the front-panel volume knob or the remote
control VOL and buttons.
2. Make sure audio has not been muted. The message “MUTE
ON” or “FULL MUTE ON” will appear in the on-screen and
front-panel displays when audio has been muted. To deactivate
mute, press the Mute button or adjust the volume level.
3. Check the INPUT SETUP menu DIGITAL IN and ANALOG IN
parameters to ensure the appropriate audio connector is assigned
to the selected input.
4. Make sure the RV-8 is receiving an audio signal. To do this,
follow the instructions that begin on page 2-29 to open the
STATUS menu for the current input source. Hint: (Use the "STAT2" Button on the remote.)

My speaker did the same, brand new out of the box, but I ran TomTom Home and it upgraded my firmware. Since then, no issues, and perfect clarity

One day I turned it on, loaded the software. Error message...

This product is JUNK. An associate of mine advised me to purchase this piece. It worked less than six months. Now the unit is fourteen months old. Lexicon said they'd be happy to have me return it along with a money order, certified check or credit card number because the charge would be $75.00 flat to either repair mine and send it back to me, or replace the entire unit.

The associate who advised me to purchase this piece of gear works on microcircuits each day in his line of work. He uses microscopes to examine his work. One day when his Omega quit working, he opened it up on his bench where he identified numerous cold-solder joints. He repaired them and the unit worked for about three months before becoming unstable. He opened it up a second time and noticed all the jacks were starting to get loose.

At that point, be became aware of the $75.00 option with Lexicon. Instead, he deposited his Omega into the dumpster behind his place of employment. Today, his unit is a part of the landfill in Dallas, Texas.

LEXICON ABSOLUTELY KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THE OMEGA. LEXICON SHOULD REPLACE THE UNITS AT NO COST; CONSUMER PAYS SHIPPING IS FINE WITH ME. TWENTY YEARS AGO, LEXICON BUILT RUGGED AND DEPENDABLE GEAR. IT IS TOO BAD THEIR FINE NAME IS ON SUCH A PIECE OF ****. I'M AFRAID I'M DONE WITH LEXICON, FOREVER. IT WOULD BE TOO DIFFICULT TO CONSIDER PURCHASE OF ANYTHING WITH THE NAME ON IT.
