We have got the same problem. You had to switch from the try me mode to off for 3 seconds before turning on. Our little one went straight for the on - as you would. Don't know if you can fix.

Apparently there were several Instant Rock Star instruments manufactured by WowWee with the product name of Paper Jamz. You do not state if you purchased one of the guitars or drum sets.
After checking the WowWee company website, it doesn't seem the company produces any items in the Rock Star toy line.

Your Uncle's player is stuck in INTRO mode. To remedy this problem
1. Play a song
2. press the button on the side of the player
3. Select PLAY MODE
4. Choose NORMAL
Firstly check if the mp3 file has solo by playing it else ever , then on the mp3 player in the equaliser or audio settings try the default settings or normal modes. And then try playing it.
Question, are they wireless guitars or are they corded? If they are wireless, try switching the wireless cards on the playstation where the cord slot is. But use the same guitar with the different card. Thats how I was able to solve my same problem.
You can go to any cheat site and get a code to unlock all the songs in quickplay mode without going through the whole game in career mode to unlock them all. That is the only way to unlock them all without playing all the way through!
Many of the songs you see listed need to be "unlocked" by playing through the songs that you currently see available. As you progress through the game, more songs become available. Also, you will be able to "purchase" songs in the game by using the "money" you earn by performing. It's another way songs are unlocked. There are also songs you can buy online from within the game if this is Guitar Hero World Tour you're referring to. Have fun!
