This happens with iPods sometimes. If it's a rechargeble battery than it may not have enough juice to communicate with the computer in which case you need to buy a wall socket plug to charge it. I'm not sure that's just a suggestion but you never know.

My computer gives me an error message when i attach my MP3.

Go to Philips website
Get the updated Philips Device Manager for your model (rather than the one that came with the CD)
Once you have installed the updated Philips Device Manager, open it, and click on the Update button - it will update your player's firmware, which should resolve your issue.

If you are, instead, getting a message that says "File System Error" - return your mp3 player to the store or call Philips and see if you can get an in-warranty replacement.

Connecting to a new PC

What kind of insignia mp3 player is?
Does vista in your PC have the latest update?

While you gather that information try this (it may work, this is a generic solution)

In device manager go to the USB section and uninstall all 'unknown usb device', uninstall the ehome thing, uninstall the **** from microsoft. Make sure you have your mp3 player unplugged while your doing all this, then set it to File and folder, plug it back up and it should work.

That should work.. but if it still tries to recognize it as an eHome device, then in device manager right click on ehome and click 'update driver' and point it to the microsoft drivers you downloaded.

My computer doesn't reconize my mp3

check if your usb cord if defective.

To check if the mp3 is recognized by the computer go to device manager in the compuer properties.

Go to device manager go to hardware tab and search for new hardware, if you see a question mark in the usb port it means that the computer cant recognize it and you may need a driver. Some mp3 have cd installer of its software. Install it in your computer. and try if the computer can recognize it.

also check if your usb port is working properly...

Philips GOGEAR SA6045 MP3 Player doesnt register.

I worked on this thing (sa6045) for three hours................no luck. Finally got a fix.....Go to programs add/remove menu under control panel and delete Philips device manager. Then go to Philips site and download new driver:http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?scy=US&slg=AEN&mid=Link_Software&cat=MP3_PLAYERS_CA&sct=SU00304_SU&grp=PORTABLE_ENTERTAINMENT_GR&session=20080506223817_68.47.250.64&ctn=SA6045/37&dct=PAL&did=AEN&file=/files/s/sa6045_37/sa6045_37_dmr_aen.htm

Install your new driver and be SURE windows media player is not running or trying to sync.If it is running in background philips device manager will not work.Once new driver is installed you can pull up the repair panel and do a hard reset thru software on your Sa6045.

Good Luck
