I have a Linksys 5-port switch connected to a cox cable modem and I'm trying to use it to connect two computers at the same time. Only one works at a time and I have to reset the switch and modem to get...

Because the cox cable modem will only bind to one mac address (computer). You need to purchase a router, any router linksys, dlink, will do, get a wireless one so you can setup wifi as well. Plug your cox cable modem into the wan port on the router, plug your pc into one of the ethernet switch ports, you can use your web browser IE to login to the router and secure your wifi signal, power cycle your modem to make it bind to the new router. Most linksys dlink are programmed for a class c network, you could in theory put 254 devices, computers on your connection now.

You have a 5-port router. The 5th port can be used either as an "uplink" port (with a cross-over Ethernet cable) or as a "data" port (with a straight-though Ethernet cable).

You've not provided enough details to trouble-shoot the "staying online" problem, i.e., IP-addresses of each of the connected computers/printers, whether you're using CAT3 or CAT5 or CAT5E cables, whether you've tried different Ethernet cables, and whether the router is connected into a UPS that provides "smooth" power.

Can u help me retrieve my wifi password?

You need to do a factory reset of your wireless router. This should clear the password in it. There is no password for your 5-port switch.

Hello Friend
You could definately use Network Switch-10/100 5-port model#EZXs55w to Connect to Network Router or Modem using Uplink Port at back Panel of 10/100 5-port model#EZXs55w Switch.
Simply Connect Modem cable to Uplink Port of Switch and connect computers to other 2 ports of switch. Allow computers to get Automatic ip addresses..if computers still not getting ip addresses auto--contact cable company and config your cable modem to use NAT or enable NAT--

Can't get two computes to run internet at the same time

Hi,
If you login to your router and make sure DCHP is enabled, and then go to Services (services.msc) on your computers and make sure that the DCHP Client is running, it'll automatically assign IP addresses for your computers and they'll both connect okay.

Hope this helps

ENET Port issue on BEFW11S4 Wireless Router

Hi!

Try these steps:

1. Make sure the wireless is disabled when you're doing that. It might cause a confusion between the wired and wireless connection.
2. Try to plug it at other ports (1-4)
3. Try another known working ethernet or CAT-5 cable.
4. Set the laptop's LAN card's speed to 10-hald duplex.

Try these and hope it will help you ;-)
