Pride Mobility Products Go-Go Elite Traveller Scooter - 4 wheel w/12 AH Batteries & Charger + Flat Free Tires - Silver Logo
Anonymous Posted on Dec 23, 2010

When I turn the key on it beeps 10 times and then pauses and beeps 5 times. The manual says that the five beeps indicate the manual freewheel lever needs to be put in drive. I did exactly as the manual said but it still gives me the same beeps and wont move. Batteries are brand new and fully charged. Thanks for the help.

The beep code will begin with 10 very fast beeps, followed by 5 slower beeps. The 5 slower beeps is your actual code. The beep code 5 is a brake fault.
The scooter may be in freewheel mode or there may be a short in the brake.
Make sure the scooter is in drive mode with the rear brake lever in the correct position. If that does not clear the fault you need to check the electromagnetic brake.
To check the brake you need a digital voltmeter. The brake should read 30 to 65 ohms when you read across the pins. You need to measure the resistance at each successive point on the harness because there are 5 connectors. While you are inspecting these plugs, check for corrosion, loose pins, broken wires, and pins not making good contact. Disassemble the front and rear halves of the scooter when you do this.
If all the resistance checks are good up to the controller plug for the brake, you have a bad controller. With that being said, I usually see a bad connection at the multiple points in-between. Sometimes the wires for the brake will melt at the connector at the controller.
Inspect these areas visually, removing the rear cover of the brake/motor/transaxle and the controller. An experienced tech should charge you under 1 hour labor for the diagnosis. You may be able to save some money by checking the obvious areas for unplugged or bad connections first.
The brake will cost about $250, the interface wiring and connectors about $50 and the controller is about $500. For this reason, you should invest in a good tech to diagnose the problem first, before proceeding with any hit and miss do it yourself repairs.
Including a second visit to install the new parts, labor cost should not exceed 2 hours total.
This is a very popular model so you should be able to find an experienced tech in your area.

Are there any detail diagrams for this "fix". My Mother-in-law bought this scooter new, it sat for years, bought new batteries and now get the 10/5 beep code. It's never been run more than two or three times. She has now passed. Warranty is gone as is the company that sold it to her. Would like to fix and sell, not put any more money into it (had to buy new batteries). Thnx

This is an indication that the scooter went into freewheel mode. Reset the freewheel lever. IF that does not fix the issue, the sensor for freewheel may be bad or loose or the control board has a problem

5 flash code is the electro magnetic Brake. This is referring to the brake on the motor that can be released by the freewheel lever.

1. place the freewheel lever into the free wheel position. Ensure the scooter is in free wheel and move the scooter forwards and backwards a few times.

2. Place the freewheel lever in drive position, push on scooter to ensure it is in drive and does not move. Turn on key and press the throttle. If you have the same code again, call a technician to check the brake, chances are it needs replaced.

Hi Fred,

Good job on replacing the batteries!
With the go go scooter, a beep code of 5 indicates a solenoid brake trip. This means that the brake manual/freewheel lever may be in the freewheel position. This means that you can push the scooter. Remove the key and push the freewheel lever to the drive position. Restart the scooter and the code should be cleared and the scooter will run. Hope this helps.
