Mic doesn't work on Creative Notebook Cam

unplug delete the cam from your system, including the software/drivers you might have for it.
reboot your pc
install the drivers from creative website or from the cd
restart the pc
plug in the cam

if that doesn't help - i guess the cam is dying - get a new one

TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray or from Control Panel
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
To set required (webcam) mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click 'OK'
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

Restart computer

Configure mic to chat program

make sure its set as default on your computer

Connect webcam
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start (To reboot the webcam software) - if you have been using it elsewhere the SKYPE software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.

Start Skype.
On the 'Tools' menu, click 'Options'.
In the navigation pane of the Skype 'Options' window, click 'Audio Settings'
Run down the list setting your defaults
Select your webcam as the default microphone.
Make a free test call
Click 'Save'
In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Video Settings.
This will launch your webcam
Adjust quality of picture in 'Settings'
Check the correct webcam is shown as default
Click Save
Test your webcam by making a Skype test call.

Fuzzy pic ?
Try rotating the focus ring around the lens while the camera is running.
Some webcams are designed for USB 2.0 ports and older PC's have 1.1
If all else fails re-install latest software

i hv creative cam model VFO 470 but my CD lost my PC doesn't driver the cam

Click (>) show menu > tools > audio and video set-up > run through mic and speaker tests > next > set your camera as defaut and adjust settings > finish

SETUP SKYPE WITH CAM
Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on
Audio Settings
and set the Microphone and Speakers
to the computer Audio Card.
Then click on the Video Settings.
The camera if installed properly
will come up and show a picture.
Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.

your creative live webcam probably have no problems it just have some complicated process when installing that cam...

your logitech webcam have no problem either if you can make it work with the cam your sound problem maybe just in your sound settings... if that logitech cam is what i think it is it has a built in microphone...

double click the speaker icon in your bottom right most taskbar (close to the time)

the volume control will popped out click on the microphone advance button then on advance control for mic windows uncheck the mic boost...

the mic probably getting a loop static from your speaker...
