Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your post it may just be a loose/burnt connection in the dishwasher junction box.

**Now I would start by first shutting off the breaker...safety first**

Then removing the kick plate ( access panel at the bottom )...

there was - macmarkus_133.jpg

...and checking the wiring at the junction box for the dishwasher 120vac supply line.

Remove the murret's and visually inspect the wire for "resistance burn" and strip the wires back and install new fastener's if necessary to repair.

i.e.

This is actually quite common to find a wire connector come loose due to improper fastening and once the unit is in use for a while the connections heat & cool, become loose from normal operating vibrations and burn up from all the added heat caused by "resistance".

Typically this will manifest in just the manner you've described. It is possible the control may be the culprit, but I'd check the jinction first.

Let me know what you find and I'll try to assist you further if necessary. I'd still suggest looking into the possible recall for your machine though.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Hotpoint Aquarius dishwasher DWF34S/42 no power - possible fuse blown

Based on your description, it sounds like there was a short circuit in the dishwasher which caused the fuse to blow and the burning smell. It is possible that the burnt connection you are seeing is related to the short circuit.
If you have experience with electrical repairs, you can try to identify and replace the burnt connection. However, if you are not comfortable with electrical work, it is recommended that you seek the assistance of a qualified technician to avoid any potential safety hazards.
In any case, before attempting any repairs, make sure that the dishwasher is disconnected from the power source and that all safety precautions are taken.

Electrical burning smell coming from control panel on westinghouse dishwasher

Had the same issue with a 903sa. Strong burning smell. Continued to run for a while then just died. Opened the control panel (4 screws holding the plastic part at the top of the door on - open the door to access).

Mains feed into the controller was totally fried. Case was all melted. Very nasty. There was nothing obvious on the Board other than a mains resistor that looked like it had been pretty hot at some stage. The three pin mains connector (at least I think it was 3 pins) was just a big, charred bit of goop.

Fuse contineous to get damages

it sounds like you have a power surge from one of the components on the main pcb/circuit board, if you can get hold of mains tester or know someone with one you can set the cycle then test each component as it goes through its cycle and the problem part will show on the metre, the down side to this sort of problem is its usually as expensive for most of the part as it is for a new pcb, hope this helps

The computer board is melting strong smell of burning plastic

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.
Based on your description ( specifically the smell ) I would suspect the control board is faulty.

However, these faults are usually easy to identify and again based on the fact that none of the indicators are working I`d rule those both out quite quickly.

The control board for those is not that expensive, relative to the cost of the machine at least... typically around $250. The original Asko part is, 8801286.

I would be one of a minority I think in saying these are great dishwashers, but typically they are doomed from day one due to improper installation and improper service by unqualified techs & "handymen".

If you decide to try to inspect or repair just remember please...

**Turn off the power at your main breaker before attempting any service...safety first**

Hi, my Hotpoint aquarius SDW60 has blown my main fuse, and is overheating giving a burning smell, 2x lights flashing on the front?

There is probably a short circuit on the appliance, or a component such as the motor or timer/control board is defective. Contact an appliance service company.
