Frigidaire FLSE60RGS0 Transmission Replacement This is my son's machine. It fills okay, agitates okay, drains okay, but will not spin. Motor turns, but belt slips on motor pulley, and trans does not spin. Assume that transmission is bad, and needs replacing. Have a good bit of mechanical experience on industrial equipment (motors, pumps, gearboxes, and much more) but have never broke into one of these before. Looks fairly simple, but usually when it does, there is one trick that you need to know before you start. So, first off, is there anywhere you can get a maintenance manual to help? If not, what can anyone do to give that help? Secondly, how hard on a scale of one to ten is this to do? And lastly are there any special tools necessary to do this job?

SOURCE: won't spin to drain clothes still wet when finished

You may have a control board issue. I would recommend calling in someone to look at it.

Price out replacement vs repair it maybe time for a new machine.

Frigidaire Washer Dryer Combo FEX831FS2 will fill, does not agitate, does not drain, but does enter the spin cycle/

Question edited for clarity 'make model (what it is).
Question moved to Frigidaire Washing Machine.

This is the Transmission unit, which I would say puts it beyond economical repair.

Frigidaire H Transmission #WCI-134735700
List Price: $765.13
Sale Price: $637.61

On first reading, I thought it sounded like the pump, but then no agitation, but it spins. This makes it sound like the control board. In view of the confusing actions and the cost involved, I would call out a Service Engineer.

Will not Agitate (Frigidaire GLWS1233AS1) The washer fills and then stops. If I manually change the timer to the end of the cycle it drains and can spin. I saw on older posts that this might be a...

Hello,

When ya say after filling "the washer stops" does that mean it is not making any sorta sound?? if it is the transmission, agitator block,or evena stripped gear you will hear the motor running yet it will not agaitate and from reading your question i think it says their is no sounds yet instead it fills then just sits their silent,is that so??

If yes their is no sounds it could be in the area of the timer where the problem lies, since it will drain/spin i am exluding the motor, lid switch or belt as the problem.

If it does make sounds yet just wont agitate it could be a stripped agitator block, or stripped gear but,the belt would be ok since it spins

Replaced the belt and still not agitating, switch seems good

If the machine fills, won't agitate, wont drain or spin, then you need to replace the lid switch.
if machines fills, wont agitate, will drain but not spin, then you need to replace the motor coupling

Washer fills, agitates and drains but will not spin (any speed or cycle).

  • Test the lid switch
  • Inspect the motor coupler
  • Inspect the drive belt (belt drive only)
  • Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
  • Test the motor
  • Inspect the pulley
  • Test the transmission
  • Inspect the agitator
  • Inspect the pump coupling
  • Test the water level switch
These are the common problems of a washer that will not spin. In my opinion I would say check the transmission. Any more questions feel free to ask.

My Frigidaire Gallery Model #GLWS1339CS1 will not agitate. It fills, drains and spins okay and at the proper time. When the machine hits the agitation cycle, I can see the agitator engage, but it doesn't...

It doesn't agitate
If your washer doesn't agitate, check these:

Lid switch
If the lid switch is defective, the washing machine may not agitate or function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
Motor coupler
Many washers produced by Whirlpool® use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. If this happens, you need to completely replace it.
Belts
Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer. (Some washing machine belts are designed with special characteristics not found in automotive belts.)
Clutch
If your washer was made by GE®, it may use a clutch for agitating the clothes. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the washer from agitating well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. For this job, you probably want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician.
Drive motor
Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor.
Drive pulleys
The motor or transmission drive pulley may be worn and unable to turn the drive belt. If so, replace the pulley.
Transmission
The transmission could have either of these problems:
Older washers produced by Whirlpool® have a transmission with an electro-mechanical shifter. If the shifter becomes even partially defective, the unit may not agitate properly or at all.
The transmission may have a worn or broken gear, or some other internal problem.
If you suspect a transmission problem, you may have to call a qualified appliance repair technician to repair it.
Agitator
The inside of the agitator--where the transmission shaft attaches--can become worn, and strip out the spline that allows the agitator to properly grip the shaft. Then the transmission shaft rotates back and forth as it should, but the agitator doesn't move properly. If this happens, you may need to replace the agitator and/or the transmission spline.

My washer wont spin

Your symptoms that indicates a broken motor coupler. If your washer will drain and fill but has not agitation action or spinning action that would indicate a broken motor coupler. The motor coupler links the drive motor to the transmission.
