Our new house has a Maytag RTD1900 top freezer refrigerator in it, for which we do not have the owner's manual. The freezer compartment has the option ice maker installed, and looks like it is plumbed in. We cannot figure out how to activate the ice maker. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank yoU!
The
refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one
for the water dispenser (if equipped). The valve that
the ice-maker relies on may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself.
Another thing that could cause it would be
the temperatures in the freezer. The ice-maker will not
call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees. In addition, check
the water tube behind the ice-maker to make sure it is not frozen, blocking
more water from entering. The water does not go to the ice-maker or
thru the filter unless the ice-maker turns on the water valve.
so you think that the problem is something else? i was not helpful at all?
according to the model number you provided, this icemaker should have a metal arm to the right side of it. this arm raises and lowers as it drops ice. so when the pan is full the arm cannot lower again and it stops making ice. if the arm is removed (very easily done) then the ice maker will never turn on.

Thanks anyway, Mike. There isn't any metal arm to the right of the ice maker so perhaps we have a different ice maker. I did check to make sure the valve under the sink is turned on and that the line to the fridge looks okay, as well as checking the water tube behind the ice-maker. I appreciate your suggestions.
Hi, Mike
Thank you so much for persevering with this question. It could be that the wire arm is missing because everything else seems to be properly connected in terms of the water supply. I will see if I can find the part locally or will try to send a digital photo of the ice maker as that may provide some additional assistance. Thank you again.
Here are a couple of pictures of the ice maker in our freezer compartment. All of the ice cubes have been made in ice cube trays, not by the ice maker--there just happen to be a couple of ice cubes on the mechanism. We can't seem to see where the metal arm mentioned in an earlier post would be inserted, or perhaps there is another suggestion. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
