The time delay depends on the following factors:

  • Host controller hardware
  • Attached hubs
  • Attached devices
  • USB driver versions
  • Support for USB 2.0
  • Additional system hardware or configurations that may change the timing

Method 1: Initiate recognition of the USB device by using Device ManagerTo initiate recognition of the USB device by using Device Manager, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type Devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. The Device Manager window opens.
  2. Click to select your computer as the location for the scan.
  3. On the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes.

Windows XP recognizes the new device.
  4. Close the Device Manager window.
If this method resolves the issue, you are finished.
Method 2: Restart the computer To initiate recognition of the USB device, first unplug the USB device and restart the computer. Then, wait five to ten seconds before you plug the USB device into the computer or hub. Windows XP recognizes the new device.

If this method does not resolve the issue, you might want to review the articles in the "Similar Problems and Solutions" section, or contact Support. I have nexxtech portable kit with a hard drive in it, it worked on windows xp, but winds 7 doesn't reconize it How do I fix this

Try your NexxTech on some other computer, to verify that it still works.

Try some other USB port on your computer.

Try some other USB device into the same USB port that you are trying to use for your NexxTech, to make sure that your computer's USB ports are working correctly.

Check that Windows 7 has loaded the device-drivers for your USB 2.0 ports on your computer's motherboard.

I pod nano not reconized by laptop with vista usb device not reconized code 10 appears

Which USB ports are you using? I just had this issue on a customer's computer and it turns out that a 5 port USB 2.0 hub they had installed in the pc wasn't functioning properly and so I would get a code 10 on their iPod nano. I plugged it into the onboard USB 1.0 ports and it installed correctly and synched. I would suggest trying other USB ports. If that doesn't work then go to Programs and Features in Control Panel and uninstall all apple products and then reboot and reinstall iTunes.

U.s.b not reconized

disconnect all USB devices attached to the system and remove/uninstall all USB HUB entry in the Device Manager. Restart the computer, reconnect the USB device and confirm if the system detects it. Test all USB ports of your system. If no go, updating the BIOS is another thing that you can try. If all fails, it can really point to a motherboard failure

Equipment fails after hub is used

If you need additional USB ports, the best way to go is to get a USB card that fits into the computer. That way it comes with a CD software program and can be updated. They are now USB 2 configured and work great. I have had to remove a number of USB hubs to fix other computers that have had the same problem.
Hope this info is of some help. Bud
