Sony Ericsson w959 screen damaged, from bad repair at a shop. Pixels become black/discoloured when i press the buttons at the top half of the phone, then suddenly the left side of the screen went completly black

The LCD has probably gone out. A new lcd and be ordered on ebay for about $30. Or your local repair shop should be able to repair it for around $60 - $70

if the lcd become white screen but the phone is working it means the flex cable of your phone is damage and need to replace, but if the phone not work with white screen your phone is in need to reprogam.go to cellphone repair shop.

Probably not easy or cheap. However, my wife broke the flip on her w580i and e-mailed Sony Ericsson and they sent her a new one free. Try e-mailing them or calling them if their site has a number -- it couldn't hurt.

in most cases the fibre ribbon gets worn out.
you can try a local cellphone repair shop, or sony service if you can afford it.
the ribbon needs to be replaced.

Where do you see the red light? On the screen itself?
Sometimes this problem occurs because of bad battery contact.
Try to remove the back cover by pressing it, and gently sliding it outwards.
Afterwards, remove the battery using your nails or something soft.
Beware not to break any plastics.
Try and using some pressurized air to clean the contacts, and maybe dust and debris that has accumulated inside.
Then, place the battery back, with the restrictions drawings side up. close the lid, and restart the phone.
