The CMOS battery on the Y550 is considered to be non-replaceable by Lenovo. It is soldered directly to the motherboard itself. You can check out this youtube video on the disassembly of the Y550. At the 14:22 minute mark on the video you can see where this battery is. At the top right of the video you will see a big green INTEL chip (upside down). To the right of the bottom of the Intel chip, you will see a round blue component. This is the battery.
If you were handy with a soldering iron, you could un-solder and replace this battery, but the average consumer would not be able to replace it. Lenovo will most likely require you to purchase a new motherboard.
Hi!
The recovery partition of you Ideapad Y550 was deleted when you reinstalled OS. You can call lenovo and ask if there is a disc that can reinstall the machine back to its original factory settings that can restore the One key recovery function of your Ideapad Y550.
Hi,
To get software driver of that lenovo y550 web camera and other lenovo y550 driver click the following link http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page? just click choose Camera
Then click select camera driver to get compatible driver.
The only resolution for this problem is to send the unit back to the lenovo service center for them to register the new motherboard in the system and also to reimage the HDD so that the one key recovery can work again..Call 18774536686 and press option 2 for hardware support so to request for depot repair
I think i know what happened. Windows Upgrade Advisor by the name itself it means that there has to be an older version present on teh system to be UPGRADED. Have you tried installing WIN7 with OKR v6.0 then downloading OKR v7.0 try not uninstalling the OKR v6.0
>I chose not to charge you for rhis since this is more of a suggestion than a resolution... i would like to know what happened after trying this, i would greatly appreciate your comment on this, thanks!
actually you just need to download the driver on lenovo website, consumersupport.lenovo.com is the website then type in your Serial number and look for your driver for your web cam
1. remove the battery first by turning the notebook over. unlock and hold the latch, and remove the battery.
2. remove 4 screews on the CPU door and then remove the thermal door. (see picture 1)
3. Pull the two latches securing the memory and pop the memory module up to 45 degree angles, and then pull out the module in that angle (see picture 2)
