Tv will not power up

Hi Mike,
You have not mentioned anything about your tv. If it does not power up, it is a simple case of power supply ( inside the tv)failure. Check the fuse if you can, replace it if found burnt. If the set works, well and good. If the fuse blows again, consult someone who can handle your set.
Good luck

Will not turn on, no blinking lights, power coming from cord is good

Sounds like the power supply board is dead. Probably has a blown power line fuse on the board. A power surge will sometimes blow the fuse and protect the board from damage. Replacing the fuse will restore the TV if this is the case. Most times though, the supply has a blown part that causes the fuse to blow and your only option then is to replace the board.

Toshiba Model 51H84. Power breaker tripped during a storm. Breaker reset, and TV will not power on. Is there a fuse? Is there a reset button of some sort? How should I proceed? Thanks.

Hi,

Your TV has a fuse on power circuit board ( that is a standard part). You need to resemble your tv to get the fuse ( make sure to disconnect all power and antenna before doing this service). Usually any tvs use a clear glass cover on fuse ( you can see a small conductor inside the glass). Replace the fuse if the small conductor gets broken. If after the fuse replacement, you got no joy on tv, the receiver part could be get problem also ( due to storm attack) and need to repair / replacement.

I hope the storm only attack your TV fuse.

Good luck

Power supply

As a rule TV Techs will inspect the power supply first. I would certainly see if the fuses are good or bad. Simple?...well yes and no. If you should find a glass fuse and the clarity of the glass internally is clean, no problem.. Now..if the fuse is open and the clarity is clean inside....replacement will cure the TV problem.Repair is still possible. If the fuse is smoky and black internally...major problems, see a tech. If repairs are possible,(good fuse) next suspect a weak power supply and check all grounds, capacitors and resistors. Check voltages if possible. If the power supply is good...and the TV will not operate...could be the signal board. Just a few hints to get you started!

I have a LG 37lc2d and it suddenly turn off and wont come back on, the stand by lights doesnt turn on either. i was wondering if its just the power supply? or how can i troubleshoot this my self to see...

There is a fuse on the power supply close to where the A/C is connected to the board. If the fuse is blown, look at the board and see if there are any burned components and or swollen capacitors. If there are bad components, I would suggest getting a new board.
If the board looks OK, disconnect the connectors from the board but leave in the A/C connector (this way you can isolate the power supply board), replace the fuse, and power up the TV.
If the fuse pops after the power is applied to the unit, then the power supply is bad.
If the fuse is still good, then power off the TV, connect on the main board’s connections, and power up the TV.
If the fuse is still good, then power off the TV, connect the inverters, and power up the TV.
If the fuse blows now, then the inverters and or the panel are bad.
A working power supply will create 5vdc for the main board’s stand by source voltage. This can be found on the power supply at the main board’s connector and it is labeled in black text.
I hope this information helps you.
Good Luck.

If your TV makes ANY noise at all while trying to power up(turn on) then your A/C FUSE IS GOOD.
Relay makes a clicking niose when TV is turned on.
Any led that lights up while trying to power up set>>A/C fuse will be good!!!

My tv did not come back on after a power cut could it be the fuse

Good Day;
After a power outage it is best to 'reboot' the TV. Unplug the TV for 4-5 minutes from a/c outlet, wait, plug back in. Did not work?
It could be the main fuse, it will be located near the a/c cord on the TV's board. CATION!! After removing back of unit make sure the TV is unplugged from the a/c outlet and the fuse will be a glass fuse, ensure that it the correct value eg; 5 amp 250v.
Good Luck and Careful, Big Irish.

No Power to my TV after power outage

A lot of times its simply a fuse that goes out. Either way someone is going to have to open it up and inspect the fuses first. It 's a fairly inexpensive service call.

Hopefully the fuse took the hit from the storm.
