The region code means the player does not support the disc your playing each country is given a region code for dvd australias is region 4 if you buy a dvd from another country it wont work you can get multi region codes for dvd players im not sure of pioneers code but try using a dvd from your country region and youl find it works just fine you can also try asking a tech on fixya for the multi region code for the model dvd player you have.

tip

DVD region code

Generally, your Pioneer DVD 120K player can play any DVDs from your region. As you encounter the situation that can not play the DVD, i guess your DVD from other region. To change the region code of DVD is High-risk operation, it only can be changed less than 5 time, and you are not to recommended to do that. If only for one or several DVD Discs, just remove the DVD region code via a DVD ripper. Of course, if you bought the DVD player from other region, you can change the region code of DVD player permanently.

How can I make a Pioneer DV-420V-K DVD Player Region Free?

Its generally not worth the bother, you would need to re-flash the programming and the data parameters. The Original Hard Coded ROM has to get un soldered, then replaced with a re-flashable memory. The Hardware is subject to static and any spark can destroy the driver board. It would be cheaper to load the DVDs on a Laptop that is configured for Region 0, and leave it for that purpose.

DVD Player D1816 shows Wrong Regional Disc message

Many DVD players are preset to one region and if you use a DVD destined for any other region, the player will refuse to play. Some players have the option to change this to universal mode. Check your player's manual if yours has this facility.

Yes. You can play VCD movies and and Audio CDs on most players.
