Hi just wondering if you figured out the problem with your Samsung fridge yet.
It is definately a problem with the defrost part of the fridge. After approximately 4 to 10 hours dependent on many different factors it enters into defrost mode to get rid of any excess ice in both the fridge and the freezer. During the defrost stage the compressor will not run. If any fault occurs during the defrost stage the fridge will not restart unless you turn it off and back on again which restes the pcb and takes it out of defrost mode and the timer starts again.
Please let me know how you went with it.
Common issue with samsung fridges, there is a 10amp/ 77degreese thermal fuse (available at Jaycar for $3.50) for the defrost heaters, in both sides freezer plus fridge. I have usually found the dead fuse in the fridge section but freezer also worth a check.. its connected via a plug on about 10 inches of red and black wire & cable tied to the right hand side of the evaporiser, you should see it wrapped in white foam.. can check this by selecting ohms on your multi meter and put one test lead on each wire, if you get a reading (0-5 ohms) your fuse is ok, if the meter does not react the fuse is dead!!!.. hope this helps guys! took me agoes to fault find the first one I done! .. I also have the same problem I switch it off and on in the morning same when I come back from work a n at night already some one is checking but not fixed yet I think I will open the inside back panel and defrost the ice when I get time as some one told me it's a major problem with this fridge I wonder why there is no recall on this
over the past 4 years i have had 2 variations of this problem. both times has been the heater in the fridge section. 1. every 8-10 hours the fridge drops the circuit breaker to the kitchen. you can tes this by resetting the unit via the power point. next place the unit in to test mode by pressing the quick freeze and refrigerator temp together for about 8-10 sec. then after the fridge is in test mode press the bottom right (freezer ten) two time with about a 2 second delay between press's. as soon as you do the second press your circuit breaker will drop. check the fridge heater first as it has gone on me three time over 4 years... the other scenario for this is where the the above is described. after about 8-15 hr you notice the temp is flashing. 1. check the fuse as described hove 2. place in to test mode as i described above, press twice to put into defrost cycle and wait 2 minutes and touch the heater element and check if it is warm, chances are that its not warm. if this is the case replace accordingly. PS worth noting when you order the part it will come with the condenser element, you need to detach and change just the heater
