Replace Hitachi light engine - Hitachi UltraVision 60V715 TV

Pretty much, surfed the internet, and found out that the common problem is the light engine, not the lamp. E-mailed Hitachi and also spoke with a service tech, who actually told me, he has replaced quite a few light engines for Hitachi 50" LCD TV'S. Also, there is a lawsuit against Hitachi regarding the defective light engines. But yet they are still selling tv's without admitting to the defect. Having my tv checked out through the service tech, and then notify Hitachi again for the upteenth time.

We had this same problem with our 60+ inch Hitachi. Except our tv had a red hue in the center of the tv before we replaced the bulb and then the blue hue joined the red one after the replacement. It ended up that our light engine was defective (which is an extremely common problem in Hitachi tvs). You should read through some of the forums on here to see if you can find your solution exactly (that is how I figured out my problem was our light engine). You might have the light engine problem also, but I am not sure since you don't have a red hue. Hitachi pays for the replacement light engine part (worth $1200). I just finished the process and now my tv is like new. If you want me to go more in-depth with the light engine repair process let me know.

Hitachi WILL replace the part... My tv is over 4 years old and the light engine went bad. They sent me a new light engine free of charge two weeks ago and now it is PERFECT! When you call them make sure to ask for their superior if you get denied by someone.

You have a defective light engine and you do not have to be under warranty for Hitachi to replace this part. We just went through this and here's what you need to do. Call Hitachi's customer relations department at 800-654-7013 and tell them that you have a defective light engine. They will act like they've never heard of this problem but they have. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area to call. Once a tech comes out and confirms that it's the light engine, call Hitachi back and they will send a brand new light engine to the dealer and Hitachi will cover the cost of the part (cost $1500).

Here is the deal, if you're under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part and the install. If you're not under warranty, all you pay is the install. Our install cost $400. Others on this site have paid $200. Do not let anyone tell you that you have to pay for the light engine part...you do not. Hitachi has not recalled this part but they are replacing it for free. Also, deal only with Hitachi customer realations number that I listed. Good Luck

If you've done an I2c reset then your problem is most likely the light engine. Actually the lcd panel inside the engine but the procedure is still the same - replacement of the LE..
