Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • Cup of distilled water
  • Clean wash cloth
    Fixing The Printer Cartridge
  1. Shut down the HP 6480 by pressing the "On/Off" button on the right side of the control panel. Some paper jams will clear themselves just by turning the printer off and starting it again. Wait a few minutes after the printer has shut down and then turn it on again.
  2. Remove the paper feed tray. If the printer does not clear the paper jam by itself, shut off the device again. Be sure to pull the tray out gently to avoid damaging the device.
  3. Lift up the automatic document feeder. The feeder makes up the top half of printer, and it can be opened like the hood of a car. Lift the sides of it slowly. This exposes the printer mechanism and ink cartridges. Pull the jammed paper up and out of the printer mechanism with both hands. Pull it gently to ensure you don't damage any components.
  4. After removing the paper, clean off the cylindrical, silver printer roller. Dampen a clean cloth with distilled water, and gently wipe any dirt, ink or paper off the roller. Rotate it when you're done cleaning one side, and continue rotating and cleaning until the roller is clean on all sides.
  5. Close the automatic printer feeder. After removing all paper, close the top printer feeder and shake it to ensure it's fastened. Re-attach the printer tray by lining it up with the arrow markers on both sides of the printer.
  6. Put one sheet of paper into the printer tray, and reset the HP 6480 by pressing and holding the "On/Off" button for 15 seconds. The printer should automatically restart and return to factory settings. It will run diagnostics and the printer cartridges should begin moving again as they print a test sheet.
  7. please comment on this post stating how it help you with your printer

My 3820 will not move the ink cartriges to center for changing

If you power off the printer and raise the cover you should be able to GENTLY move the print head towards the centre but if it's not moving there is probably something else wrong if it's not responding to the button push or software request.

Can´t service it!

Gently pull on the ribbon cable that leads to the print head and it should come across; at least mine did when the Serivce Error 5200 came up. Once in the middle pull the power plug, replace the cartridge, cloase the lid and then power it on. Hopefully this gets you up and running.
