AF on your Cabrio means the Air Flow is being obstructed. Make sure the vent is secure and free of debris at the back of the appliance. Also ensure there is no obstruction where it is vented outside of your home. Lastly, make sure the lint trap is clean. Your dryer will still run normally, but it's best to go through your checklist so no further issues arise.
I suspect with the fault cleared when the vent hose was removed that the air supply is most likely stopped up between the end of the dryer hose and the outside vent. Put the hose back on and start the dryer. Go outside with the dryer running and feel if there is any air coming out. You should find your problem there.
I disconnected the vent hose from the dryer and the error went away. I don't understand because its a brand new vent hose and was not kinked at all.

"AF" is a restricted air flow condition. You say you've only had your dryer for 3 months, but have you ever cleaned the ducting? You need to check the lint screen after every load, AND you need to perform routine cleaning of the dryer venting (inside the dryer, as well as the vent line from the dryer to where it exits the house) about every three months. If left in this condition, the dryer heating circuitry will eventually failed and/or you could cause a fire hazard. An easy way to check to see if you have a clog somewhere is to remove the dryer vent hose from the back of the dryer. Run the dryer to see if you have air flow coming from the back of the unit. The air should be about 140 degrees F and forceful. Check to see if the error comes back. If everything runs fine, then you know the problem exists in the vent line between the dryer and where it exits the house. If you still have problems, you will need to unplug the dryer, remove the back panel and inspect the interior for clogs. At least you have a dryer that warns you when the air flow become restricted or blocked. Most dryers will continue to run until they overheat or fail. I hope this information is helpful. Post back with your comments and let me know.

I checked all the obvious things posted throughout the internet about this code on my 5 month old WED7800XL and none of them were the problem. What I found on my dryer was the belt that drives the fan had come off. After further inspection I also noticed that the pulley on the top of the fan was missing. After removing the front panel from the dryer I found the pulley, reinstalled it and the belt, the removed panels and it was fixed.
Also FYI, underneath the electronic panel there is a service manual for the dryer.

Found the source (it was NOT in my version of the manual)
It is due to low air flow

Hi Terry,
AF flashes if a restricted airflow condition exists. Check to make sure the lint screen is clean, the door seal is in place and the vent is not
obstructed.
I suspect it's the vent connecting the dryer to the wall or the vent pipe in the wall to the outside. Without moving your dryer, look behind it to see if the flex duct is crushed or pinched. If it is, it's pinching off your air flow, too. Pull the dryer out straighten or replace the hose (you can get vent hose at Home Depot, Lowes or Ace Hardware) then slide the dryer back being careful to keep it about 8" from the wall (8" is the recommended distance from the back of the dryer to the wall, btw).
If the flex vent is NOT pinched off, then you should call a chimney sweep to come out and clean the vent pipe that's in the wall.
*Note---> If you want to test this diagnosis to verify it, just disconnect the flex hose from the wall and run a load of clothes. The error code should not reappear.
