DVD sledges work by a rubber belt that in your case might have broke or come off. It's very easy to replace. Find the original belt. Measure the diameter in MM (approx) and do a Google search for "Drive belt XX MM".
Get the nearest to your size.

It may be possible that this DVD is not from the same region as my DVD player. PHILLIPS HTS 3265. But my question is how do I make out that my Video CD of violin brothers from ASHA AUDIO FALLS IN WHICH...

Hello Dhrubajyo,

[...] The VCD format has no region coding, so discs can be played on any compatible machine worldwide. Many VCD players can compensate for the differing frame rate and pixel count between NTSC and PAL/SECAM TV systems. [...]

You might have a problem with PAL/NTSC system here, but I assure you that it is not the matter of the region setting. Also - please, be careful when changing the region. Many players offer possibility to change it only several times. 5 times as the most often option. After 5 changes, the setting is locked.

It's possible that this DVD is not from the same region as the DVD player.
For instance, a DVD from India (region 5) will not play in a DVD player from the US (region 1).
You may want to check into that and post a reply here.

On one particular DVD (UP from Disney/Pixar) a certain section keeps repeating. When I stop the DVD to try accessing the root menu it freezes up and the entire sound bar locks. The only way to resolve this...

Those discs have a very strong copy protection mechanism to avoid making digital copies on PC systems but some DVD players won't play them because of that, if you have the original movie, download a copy from the internet, burn it to a dvd-r disc and play it. It's perfectly legal because you already bought the movie. The downloaded copies have no copy protection and will play better than the original.
The PHILIPS DVD-Home theater players are specially picky about non-standar disk like the one you're trying to watch.

Philips hts 3450 home theatre system, dvd in player, won't come

Before you do what I am about to suggest, understand that doing so will void your warranty with Philips. Find out if the product is still in warranty before proceeding - if it IS in warranty, then get it replaced through Philips (even though it is a simple solution):

Unscrew the four main screws on the bottom of the main base that are keeping the main unit together. Open up the case, retrieve the disc. Make sure that you do not knock ANYTHING out of place - you must proceed VERY carefully. Rescrew the case. Voila!
