Fan keeps running

The fan keeps running after the fredge/freezer reach their cold right level. It is a viking side by side professional 48" VCSB481SS. I feel annoying with the noise and also I think it could damage the refrigerator. I feel unsafe using this one, since I think that the food could be spoiled. [email protected]

SOURCE: doesn't cool

Hi, Yes, If the evaporator was not frozen over then I agree with you. The unit has lost its refrigerant charge. The only thing you can do is to have a licensed refrigeration man find the leak, repair it and recharge it or replace the refrigerator. If the evaporator is frozen over the defrost timer would be the problem. In this case, manually defrost it and it will be good for a few days until you get it replaced. kstfas

SOURCE: Viking freezer and fridge won't get cold enough.

I had the same problem with my side by side. Make sure the vents are not covered inside both the fridge and freezer between the bottom and top so the cold air is able to circulate between them. My freezer had ice covering the bottom vent.

SOURCE: MY viking side by side refrigerator isent working

If only a year old it will be fully covered by warranty. Meantime try disconnecting from the mains power supply for 30mins (dont worry the frozen items wont be affected for this short a period) then switching on again, as this may trigger the motherboard into normal mode
Good luck

  • No, don't leave it running. Put your food from the refrigerator and fridge in a different spot. Then unplug the unit and clean it out and jar both doors open at least a foot with something so it can air out. This will save electricity and keep the inside from beginning to smell, which friges do by default if kept closed with no circulation.

My refrigerator is not cold and the freezer is not cold, they are broken, I can't get them repaired for awhile, should I turn off the breaker or just keep them running. A fan is working.

Refrigerator is not getting COLD

clean the coils on the back of the fridge and make sure the condenser fan is free and running normally. that is the fan at the back of the unit on the bottom where the compressor is. if it cant ge rid of the heat, it wont cool. also make sure the the fan that supplys the cold from the freezer to the fridge is working.

Second new Whirlpool fredg. that will not stay cold

whirlpool had a bad run of evaporator fan motor (the fan in the freezer section) it is a simple fix and a good service company should pick up on it. since the unit is new have lowes send out a different serice company than the first one mention to them about the air not blowing good to the refrig section and if the fan motor is running fast enough. they should replace the fan motor with part number 4389177 this is a whirlpool part.  Let me know how it turns out. thanks Peyton
BTW whirlpool is one of the best so be patient and let em fix it you wont be sorry...

DFSB483 Side by Side Inlay Viking Refrigerator not cooling

The unit should not need to be pulled out diagnose it.

At the bottom on the rear inside wall of the Freezer can you see any signs of frost build up?
If there is then it is more than likely the defrost terminator

When you open the freezer door can you hear the fan blowing in the freezer?
If not then the Evaporator fan could,be bad and need replacing.

If there is no frost and the fan is running, try turning the unit off and then back on, the power off switch is accessed by removing the center grill of the top grill. There are 2 switchs in this compartment. If you flick the switch and the lights stay on this is the wrong switch, flick it back and find the other switch, power the unit off and then back on. What you should here is first the fans come on followed by the compressor, it will take about 6mins for this to happen. If the compressor is running and you have no cooling then you have a sealed system issue and you ned to get a certified personnel to come and make the repair.
