I just got my ipod today 7-3-08 and on of the employees at a bestbuy told me that if i bought and iTunes gift card that i wouldn't have to put any of my personal information on the internet. well i have tried many time and many different ways (only ones i can think of) to put music on my ipod, but its just not working. So now i have an iPod with no clue of how to aquire music on it, pretty useless huh?
Hey lacie_brat,
In order to load music onto your iPod you will need to use the iTunes program. Unfortunately, in order to download the software and create an iTunes account, you may be required to provide Apple with some basic contact information.
Typically, the kind of information that is usually collected will be limited to your name and an e-mail address, but you may also be prompted to provide a valid mailing address or phone number. Please keep in mind that as with any fee-based service, this information may be collected to ensure that your account cannot be accessed or modified by an unauthorized third party.
If you have any questions as to why Apple would request your personal information, I would strongly suggest that you review their privacy policy FAQ through the link I've provided below.

Hope this helps you out.
Sincerely,
Aaron
