Im getting a greyish white horizontal lines in my system.. i dont know wat s the solution .. can anyone answer this problem..im usin hp pavillion dv5..

May be the horizontal circuits may have a component that has changed it's value due to stress and heat...you can try another monitor to rule out the computer...but from what you describe it definitely sound like the monitor

No normal boot up, screen stays greyish white with lines.

if its booting up and yopu are not able to see the line then its most probably the display problem you better contact service centre bfore trying anything or use a external display to check its running

Try this: see if you can find an external monitor, use a VGA cable to hook to monitor...tell me if the lines are still showing on the external monitor...

Monitor problems

Try plugging in another known working monitor and see what happens. That will tell you whether the issue is with the monitor or your HP. And do not go to HP for assistance since they will not do squat for you - horrible support and not deserving of business.
