No video through HDMI section of Onkyo TX SR-805 receiver

Onkyo TX SR-805 receiver has been used in a home theater system since Jan. 2008. Cable and projector (Mitsubishi HD1000U) were connected to the receiver by HDMI cables and worked fine till June 6. After a 3 weeks vacation during which the receiver was unplugged there is no video through HDMI; audio is ok. I get video using component cables for IN and OUT of the Onkyo receiver.

Mines doing the same thing. Audio but no video no matter what hdmi source Input into the reciever, there is no video coming out. I have checked all my connections, changed wires, the video on the units work fine when connected to my tv but when I connect to the receiver, bye bye video just sound? I am thinking there is a problem with these units?

I have the same problem. It suddently fails to output video to TV via HDMI. However, composite works. I did contact Onkyo who suggested to reset the unit. If it still does not work, contact service center. I will contact service center in before out of warranty.

Check the input selector on the TV, if you have audio only then it is a cable problem,
that means that cables are not connected in the right way.

My TX-SR605 has two HDMI In slots. I want to add a third HDMI device - a ROKU box. Please advise how best to do this. Thanks.

Use an HDMI switcher like this. Then you can select any of the three inputs and run it to the receiver. Simply leave the receiver on that input and use the switcher for source selection.

Unable to connect a blu ray dvd player to onkyo tx-sr605 via hdmi

Not sure what unable to connect means..but I will assume you have the correct cable.

First make sure you have plugged the from the HDMI cable from the DVD play into the IN 1 HDMI port on the back of your Onkyo

On the Receiver
Enter the Setup mode
Select INPUT OUTPUT ASSIGN
Next make sure the HDMI monitor out is set to YES on the Receiver
Monitor out
HDMI Monitor - YES

Next you need to assign the HDMI INPUT to DVD
Select INPUT OUTPUT ASSIGN
HDMI INPUT
DVD - IN1
CBL/SAT - IN2

This may be your issue.

Next step would be to verify your television input settings.

Nice receiver!

Best of luck!

Sound from Onkyo CD player well and fine. Then connected the Samsung DVD HT-Z310 to Video3 (L/R audio in, V-in from L/R Audio out and V-out of Samsung) but no sound or nor video on TV? Tried to fix it...

What am I missing here?

There are a lot of models mentioned in this post. What are WE discussing?

* A Samsung HT-Z310 is a Home Theater System.

* An Onkyo TX-DS777 is higher-end AV Receiver that DOES have a Video 3 input which accepts composite video and analog audio.

* An Onkyo CD player is irrelevant to the TV sound in any scenario.

* Unnamed TV.

I don't see any path in your narrative that would carry audio TO the TV. Is there an unmentioned HDMI cable in here somewhere? I see no other audio outputs on the HTZ.

Are you running the HT-Z310 through an Onkyo receiver to somewhere (?) else?

The fewer hops and inteconnects a given signal experiences between its source and your senses, the better. I always run the BEST video from any source to the TV first; the best Audio to the BEST audio electronics. If that helps.

Can you please tell me how to connect my Humax 9200T PVR to my Onkyo TX-SR608. The Humax does NOT have HDMI connections and the manual does not mention the connection of a PVR. The Humax Manual is of no...

You will need to purchase a scart to HDMI converter - available in the UK for about £40.

If you Google 'Scart to HDMI converter' you should find several options, which will be cheaper if you are in the US!

Unfortunately the Humax box you have only supports Scart A/V I/O, which is of course now obsolete.

No audio from my PS3 through the Onkyo 5100 7.1

if you are using an HDMI cable dont expect sound to come out (even thought HDMI carries both audio and video) the onkyo HT-s5100's Receiver is the HT-r560. the 500 models of the onkyo receiver does not allow HDMI to carry both audio and video. it only allows the video signal to pass to the receiver.

if youre using optical for audio w/c is what you need then these are the steps you need to follow.
*first make sure that the optical connections are ok at the back of the receiver.
*make sure that your DIGITAL INPUT is set to either OPT1 or OPT2 whichever optical input you used to connect the optical cable.
*then go to your PS# settings : go to sound settings / audio moutput settings/ select digital out (optical).

then enjoy.....ü
