SOURCE: how to get video onto a pc
use your cd to install the drivers onto your computer. Connect camera via usb and use the pixel software that came with your camera or you can use Windows Movie Maker to download your recordings.
SOURCE: Help!! Can not connect my Sharp ViewCam Z VL-Z3U Through FireWire
You've probably fixed this by now, but since nothing is posted:
I have an older Sharp digital camcorder, one of the first. It's the VL-NZ100 and Sharp does not support transferring the video to a PC with this camcorder because they did not include the cable to do it. That said, I WAS told by Sharp that I could figure it out myself if I got a fireware (IEEE) cable.
I got a very inexpensive IEEE-1394 firewire cable, set my camcorder to Tape/VCR, connected the cable to my PC and my camcorder, and Windows Vista recognized it. It asked if I wanted to transfer the video and it just walked me through the whole thing! This is built in to Vista, so if you have the operating system, you are set.
If you don't, I don't know if you can download Windows Photo Gallery from Microsoft. I know that you can download Windows Live Photo Gallery but I don't know if that has the same functionality. You didn't mention what operating system you have.
And FYI, I didn't need drivers.
