The 6360 is a low voltage tstat. Sounds like you needed a high voltage tstat. With wires carefully separated and power on, test voltage to determine if you need a 24 volt or 110 volt tstat
unplug the heater. remove the screws holding the control panel, pull the control out from the body of the heater enough to get the probes of an ohmmeter onto the connections that lead to the heating element. the ohmmeter should read less than 100 ohms. if the ohmmeter reads infinite ohms (open circuit), the heating element or the connections to it ate bad. if the heating element is bad, cheaper to buy a new heater. if the heating element is okay, repair connections or control.
Depends on what type of heat you have...gas, oil , electric, heat pump? Make sure it is the right thermostat for your heat source. Some thermostats have a switch on the back for fuel or electric.
The eletrical heating element is most likely faulty (broken and open-circuit) and will need to be replaced: this is non-trivial exercise involving main and dangerous high voltage better left to a professional repairman.
check oil overtemp senser or heating element, some of the newer ones have a circuit board with default codes, check for codes,unplug, plug back in and see if it works
the thermal cut off wires do not matter how you put them on.. The high limit is wired in series with the heating element.one red thick wire to element the wh/red top side of the high limit stat out of the high limit sat(other side) then goes to the other side of the heating element
