If your laptop has a HDMI output, and your TV has a HDMI input, then use a HDMI-to-HDMI cable, which carries both "audio" and "video" signals.

Otherwise, you need a cable from the "headphone" output from your PC into the "RCA" stereo-audio inputs into your TV.

Connected my laptop to sony wega tv using hdmi but get no sound on tv

HDMI is prone to this--If you connected with the set (TV) on you may have caused this issue.

In our shop we get a lot of this and if a box was being used (cable HDMI) the box needs to be rebooted.

I would at least try unplugging the TV from power--wait and try to boot it up again(set with power disconnected and then powered again will try).

Restart the laptop, with the cables (HDMI) REMOVED AND THEN INSTALLED AGAIN BEFORE YOU APPLY POWER TO THE SET.

This may or may not help but is worth trying.

Failing this it may be a setting in the laptop or a mismatch between the two units.

Vga cable connected to tv; great picture. sound cable connected properly; no sound.

If you disconnect the 3.5 mini jack from the laptop, do you have sound? If you do you have either a lead fault or tv fault/error.
Hope that helps.

No sound with HDMI cable connected to Philips 42PFP5332/10 TV

Sony Vaio laptops do not allow audio through HDMI only video. You can run audio from your laptop however to a surround sound system.

Laptop connected to TV via 23pin cable and setup

You have to connect the laptop to the TV by using the headphone jack on the laptop.
Only then, will the sound be sent over to the TV, and automatically the speakers on the laptop will stop working.

Get a cable to connect them from the headphone jack to an appropriate input on the TV.

Hope I helped,
Tom

Laptop to TV connection but no audio

what kinda connection did you made?? what kinda cord did you use....anyway...it usually works that way..you can get image on TV ..by setting the image card driver ...but the sound bust be connected separately ...if your TV has a input plug for sound...just take a proper cable ...and get signal from the green out of the computer and plug it into the input of the tv ...this way you will have sound comming from the TV speakers and access on the volume with its remote control ...but no matter what kinda plug u used for the connection with the tv ...you will not get eny thing more than image..
so...if your TV doesnt support sound plug in just attach some speachers ...

VGA and Audio cables connected to PC but no audio through TV

if your tv has vga input there should be a "line in" input very near it. VGA can only get its audio source through a "line in" connecting to the coaxial audio inputs will apply the music stream to a different video input on your tv. your tv has video 1, video 2, vga, and so on, but the vga cannot show video and then audio from the video/audio coaxial inputs. you will need something like a dual male tipped 3.5mm audio connector.
