Why are my dishes not clean?? I ran a cup of vinager in it yesterday, thinking that this would help-It didn't. Any suggestions? We have a Maytag Quiet series 800

The dishwasher may need to be cleaned. Place one cup of white vinager in the dishwasher, without any dishes, and let the dishwasher go through a wash cycle.

if every thing else is working good, try first to clean the screen in the bottom and run a cleaning agent through it with nothing in it.
you can find the cleaning agent with the dish washer/laundry soap area in your store (same one used on front loading washers)
or run 1 cup of white vinager through it

There are many things that will get rid of it, the most effective is a diluted bleach and a green scouring pad.

Its not a filter that needs to be cleaned, the scum is a result of dishwasher detergent. You need to run a dishwasher cleaner through it. First fill a cup with white vinager and place it on the upper rack, then run a cycle with no other dishs in the unit. The vinager will be displaced through out the cycle and help to get the scum to go away. I had to do this 4 times to get the scum to go away. You can also use "Dishwasher Magic" and that can be found at most hardware stores.

This may be a hard water issue, but assuming it's not:

Pour 1 liter of white vinager into your dishwasher and run through a full cycle.

If this fails:

Pout 1/2 liter of CLR into you dishwasher and run through 3 full cycles.

N.B. Vinager is preffered as it's non-toxic.


Other possible issues:

hard water, lime/sediment buildup in hot water tank, not using rinse-aids like "jet-dry"

It has a strainer. These strainers are evidently designed to make washers stink. Your strainer is located behind the kick panel, below the main panel. The strainer is located between the drum and the pump. It is connected to the drum with a rubber hose. Unplug your washer. Pull and clean the strainer, While the strainer is open, look up into the pump suction cavity and remove any loose debris that you see in there. Reassemble the strainer, replace the kick panel.
Clean the door seal face with a bleachy water solution, let it sit, and wipe it down again. You want to get the solution into the grooves behind the seal face, and wherever you think mold and mildew might be on/in/behind the bellows seal.
Put one cup of bleach directly into the washer tub.
Fill all of the dispenser cups with bleach.
Run the washer on your hottest setting (no clothes). I use the sanitary setting with an extended wash.
When the cycle is finished, run another cycle with nothing in the dispenser cups or tub, Just plain hot water, this will flush out the bleach residue. Most folks wipe their bellows seal face and grooves down with bleachy water regularly. (1X / wk).

RUN A EMPTY LOAD ON HOT WITH A COFFEE CUP FULL OF VINAGER SITTING ON THE TOP RACK, THIS WILL CLEAN THE DISHWASHER, YOU MAY NEED TO DO IT 2 OR 3 TIMES

you need to flush out the dishwasher, fill a cup with vinager and put it in the dishwasher standing up, then run the dishwasher thru a heavy duty cycle with no dishs. Then cut back on your soap, with new dishwashers and soaps you dont need much at all

run a empty load, on the top rack place a coffee cup full of vinager. Run on hot or heavy duty cycle. Then try again with no more than 1/2 of the soap cup filled. If this works for you it was caused by to much soap
