My laptop was running a bit slow and i pressed f8 when my laptop started and i set up a password, now i cant turn it off everytime i turn my laptop on i have to type the password in, before windows starts up i want to disable it but i cant how do i? thank you

an id password is what is needed to let you log on to your laptop.
if you do not know this then you will not be able to use the laptop.
so you will have to try this.
Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help in solving the issue.
- Do a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try logging in again.
- If it doesn't work do try logging in Safe Mode, while the laptop is booting up repeatedly press on F8 until it loads Advanced Boot Options and select Safe Mode then press Enter.
- If it doesn't work in Safe Mode you may need to reinstall Windows to solve the issue.

Please try this: turn off your computer. Then turn it on, and right after the black screen with white text or the computer company logo disappears, press & release key F8 repeatedly until a menu appears, then you select Safe Mode (note: if there is no menu, then try the same steps again, but this time, press key F8 a bit earlier). Then login and click Start->all programs->accessories->system tools->system restore and restore the computer to any date before this issue has occurred, then wait until system restore finish, then check.
if this does not work you may have to put a new set of windows back on your laptop.

It seems that your OS has registry problem:-

- Start PC in safe mode, normally Pressing F8 key when windows starts up.( Google it)
- In Safe Mode create a new user, with administrator privileges and protect it with password.
- Remove unwanted software's & programs.
- Empty the Recycle Bin.
- Download reliable program Reginout to fix OS registry properly.
- Restart your PC normally and log on to the new account created.

Locate and download a program called "OPHCRACK"

Insert disc and restart computer:

Set your bios to start from the CD:


Just press F8 or whatever the screen says for the BIOS settings and/or options..
Set the boot option order to CD first rather than second or third.

The program will run and it will start to recover the passwords(s)

Hi. Turn the computer on and press F8 when you see the toshiba screen. Select safemode then press enter. open the System Config Utility (msconfig) by pressing Start, Run (XP), or type the word msconfig then press enter for Vista.

Disable all start up items and restart your machine... See if it starts and boots to windows.

Try This:

1, boot into safe mode (press F8 before windows starts),

2, log onto the account named "administaor" NOT your normal account

3, go into control panal and remove password from user account settings

If this is an operating system password, enter safe mode at start up by pressing F8, log in as administrator, from here you can clear user passwords. If it's a bios password, then you will need to contact Acer support.

Once you boot up press F-8, when the screen comes up, select last known good configuration, when the next screen comes up select the Operating System.

If this does not work, reboot ,press F8, select safe mode, select Administrator, no password, Log On. Let everything come up,
GOTO Start,Run,type in msconfig, click on OK, select start up tab,
select disable all, click apply, click ok, click restart.
