Brought a used kindle dx and didn't get a manual don't know how to use or what buttons to push

Howdy. I have had to replace 2 Kindles. Almost a 3rd one. I have noticed if you let it discharge completely that's when the trouble starts. What I did is.
1- Plug in charger.
2- after about 10 minutes on charger push start button, push it about 4 -5 times.
3- push the volume buttons both at same time. Then push them individually. Push and hold each one for a few seconds.
4- After all that, try pushing start button again.
Now this worked for me, I just didn't want to go back to best buy and tell them another went bad. Remember these things can get viruses just like any computer. Get a virus program, lots of them free in the store. Let me know if this works

Kindle DX, Kindle 2 or Kindle 3: This is easy - just hold the power button (next to the headphone jack) for 15 seconds and the device will reboot.

Press and hold the power button for two seconds or so. Does it start to come up then?

So if I understand you correctly, you are now locked out of your Kindle and you never using a PIN Code when you setup the Kindle, correct?
Unfortunately there is no back door password, the only way to crack the Kindle is by calling customer service and usually they replace the unit, so you loose everything.

There are many user guides and manuals available for download on the Kindle Documentation Page on Amazon's website. This is probably the best place to start and should have the most information about all models.

You may need to enter your wep key.
wep key is a wireless key code found in your pcs router,Go to the routers home page and look under wireless settings.Somewhere on the kindles configuration you need to enter this code.
