Make older programs run in this version of Windows (from help section in Windows 7)


Most programs written for Windows Vista also work in this version of Windows, but some older programs might run poorly or not at all. If a program written for an earlier version of Windows doesn't run correctly, you can try changing the compatibility settings for the program, either manually or by using the Program Compatibility troubleshooter.

If changing the settings doesn't fix the problem, go to the program manufacturer's website to see if there is an update for the program.

To run the Program Compatibility troubleshooter

  1. Click to open the Program Compatibility troubleshooter.

  2. Follow the instructions in the troubleshooter.

If you cannot install a program, insert the installation disc for the program and, using the troubleshooter, browse to the program's setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. The troubleshooter is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.

Description

Compatibility mode

Runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows. Try this setting if you know the program is designed for (or worked in) a specific previous version of Windows.

Run in 256 colors

Uses a limited set of colors in the program. Some older programs are designed to use fewer colors.

Run in 640 × 480 screen resolution

Runs the program in a smaller-sized window. Try this setting if the graphical user interface appears jagged or is rendered improperly.

Disable visual themes

Disables themes on the program. Try this setting if you notice problems with the menus or buttons on the title bar of the program.

Disable desktop composition

Turns off transparency and other advanced display features. Choose this setting if window movement appears erratic or you notice other display problems.

Disable display scaling on high DPI settings

Turns off automatic resizing of programs if large-scale font size is in use. Try this setting if large-scale fonts are interfering with the appearance of the program. For more information, see Make the text on your screen larger or smaller.

Privilege level

Runs the program as an administrator. Some programs require administrator privileges to run properly. If you are not currently logged on as an administrator, this option is not available.

Change settings for all users

Lets you choose settings that will apply to all users on this computer.

Installation Instruction:

  • With Windows Vista 64 bit or Windows 7 64 bit, you need to install Instant DVD recorder 2.6.1 as a full version.
  • If you own an Instant DVD Recorder Version 1.x full version, to only install Instant DVD Recorder 2.6.1 full version.
  • If you use this Instant DVD Recorder Updater to update the Instant DVD Recorder included with Studio Version 12, 11 or 10, please make sure that Instant DVD Recorder is already installed on you system. Can I use the Digital Blue Movie Creator 2.0 on Windows 7
The drivers for the Digital Blue Movie Creator 2.0 are only available for Windows ME/XP/2000
But as Windows 7 is backward compatible with most software, programs and drivers then there should be no problem.

Load up the driver in Windows 7, install the software and run. If there is a problem Windows 7 comes with a troubleshooter.

For the troubleshooter

Right click on program icon. On drop down menu select Troubleshoot compatability. Answer the questions that are asked such as ' which version of windows did this program work on before ?'
Start the program after troubleshooter applies new settings.

I have been using a Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 DVD Creator F5U228/ P74201-B to transfer VHS tapes to my XP computer. My new windows7 PC will not recognise it. Are there Widows 7 drivers available to download...
Unfortunately a lot of devices do not have Windows 7 drivers and some manufacturers are reluctant to provide these drivers for their older products.
Try going to the Belkin WEB site to see if there are Windows 7 drivers for your DVD creator.
THIS WORK AROUND MAY WORK.
Try running XP emulation within Windows 7 - for details how to do this, check out this WEB site.

I can't get Calendar Creator 12.1 to run on my windows 7 64-bit system
Windows 7 Compatibility for Broderbund Calendar Creator version 12 :
32-bit(compatible) and 64-bit(We are working with the software publisher to confirm this product's compatibility) -->click HERE! to navigate .
Run the program in compatibility mode:
1.Right click on the program's shortcut, .exe file, or installation program;
2.Click on Properties.
3. Click on the Compatibility tab. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: If the Compatiblity options are grayed out, then it is a 64 bit program and cannot be changed.

Is Roxio 9 compatibility with windows 7?
Roxio 9, Roxio Creator 9 and Roxio Creator 10 are different animals. Roxio 9 is 3 years old +. It likely will not handle 64bit or Windows 7.
Roxio Creater 9 is not listed as compatible with Windows 7
