Hello,

Seiko watches are a popular accessory for both men and women. The history of Seiko watches goes back to 1881 long time ago, when the company that was to become Seiko began. From the beginning, the method to set a Seiko watch has been designed to be a simple process.

The following are the steps to set a Seiko watch for the time, day and date function, and for setting the chronograph on an analog watch.

Set the Time:

  • THE CROWN
Pull the button on the side of the watch carefully, the crown, out to its most extended position. You will need to unlock the crown if your watch has a locking crown. To unlock, turn the crown counter clockwise. While the crown is pulled out in the setting position, the watch will cease functioning.
  • 12 O'CLOCK POSITION
Turn the crown clockwise to move the hands of the watch past the 12 o'clock position on the dial. The day and date will change to indicate AM setting but will not change for PM setting. It is recommended that you set a Seiko watch in the morning for instant day and date setting; however, this can be done manually.
  • FINISH
To finish setting the time, simply push the crown until it is flush with the side of the watch.

Good luck and thanks for using fixya.

The chronograph second hand now resets to the 5 O-Clock position?

I have found instructions that tell you how to reset the hands but there are several buttons on your watch and to avoid confusion you really need to see a diagram.

You can do this by going to the Seiko web site (seiko.com), click on "support", then "instruction booklets".

Scroll down the next page and you will see a list of the watches made by Seiko. Select yours and download.

Go to page 16.

As jimmyguru said.
1. Pull the crown to the second position (all the way out)
2. Push and hold the reset button and allow the chronograph hand to rotate near the 12 o'clock position.
3. Release the reset button.
4. Repeatedly push and release the reset button to find tune the hand position until it is right at 12 o'clock.
5. Push the crown back in.

Seiko Chronograph 7T32 minute hand inactive after battery replace

you often need to do a full reset on 7T32s (& other seikos) after a battery change. there is a small reset contact in the rear of the movement which needs to be shorted to the top of the battery (the movement is engraved with wording to this effect, something like "AC reset", I can't remember exactly). you might also try pulling out the crown all the way (2 clicks) then holding both upper pushers in for a few seconds. it's unlikely to be a buggered motor unless it's one of the subdials that's failed.

I have a seiko flight watch, unknown of the model, second hand doesn't reset

I guess the blue faced SEIKO is a Flightmaster (Model: 7T92- OCFO)and it is a great watch. This is a common problem with most chronographs and this happens due to misalignment with usage.

All you need to do is pull out the locking crown all the way out (2nd Step) as if setting time. and then press and hold the top / left button and at first the milli seconds hand resets. after which you have to press the borrom / right button to move the seconds hand in to place. and then reset the time and lock the crown. You can repeat this for Milli Seconds, Seconds, Minutes & hours hands.
Hope this helps,
Krishna Chaitanya GT.

Seiko chronograph alarm

Solution #3 (Posted by Guest on 5 Mar 08) is spot on. Quick and easy method to reset the chrono hands (it was not in my Seiko manual).
Interestingly, this can also be used to set the chrono ahead (or behind--with a little math) for offset timing measurements.

Try setting the crown to position 2 - i.e. the position normally used to adjust the date.  Then use the top and bottom stopwatch buttons to adjust the minute hand and 1/10th hand respectively.
