Using ariens snowblower today, model# 924026 and heard a ping and everything stopped. Tecumseh engine model3 H80 155006. Some white smoke came out and some oil leaked down side of metal part that oil is pored into (engine block?). Will not start at all. Further inspection revealed crack in this part. Is this reparable or replaceable? Can't locate part# in online parts lists or manual.

Check your compression tecumseh's are known for the exhaust valve seat poping out of the head. If you have compression check the governor shaft it should only turn about a 1/4 turn.

often if you go to the store that sells those type of machines you can buy a replacement engine but you will likely pay almost the cost of the new machine itself. sometimes if you go to a repair shop they will have a separate engine for sale. If you can find it a Briggs engine should fit as well.

Look for the engine (brand) repair manual. Usually they are Tecumseh on Ariens machines.

As far as I know there is none on the Tecumseh engine. For the rest of the blower there shouldn't be any but there could always be some.

Manufactures tend avoid left hand threads as much as possible.

Ariens snowblower 1979 how to test for spark
The coil needs to be just close enough not to rub. Wrap a piece of hard copper wire on the threads of the plug and ground the other end to the engine. Pull the handle and watch for spark.
