Ok at the place I am employed they have a 1 Hp submersible pump it pumps about 300 ft into the top of a 120 gal storage tank then the water comes out of the bottom of the tank and goes into our grundfos 3-45 booster pump then the water flow out of the booster pump and goes to our rest room and throughout the building our rest room is about 10 feet from the booster pump. Now without using the booster pump and only the submersible pump we can get about 50 psi to our restroom but with 3 hand wash sinks and the urinals and toilets if u run the water very long the submersible pump can't keep a good pressure pumping as far as it does. So I guess that is why our company called a contractor and had them put the booster. The only problem with that is like I said the restroom is only about 10feet away from the pump and we have a pressure gadge on the discharge side of the booster. When the booster comes on it's pushing over 100 psi so the contractor being a plumber and all should have known you can't push that much pressure into a urnal or a toilet with the diagrams and vacume breakers and expect them to work right so they just turned the valves down on everything only prob was they had to so much that u are lucky to get a cup of water to come out of them when u use the Urnals and toilets and u have to flush the toilet to get the wash sink to work at all. U have to drop the water pressure to get the sinks to push any water so long story short is there a way I could adjust the pressure switch on the pump if not would it hurt anything if I put a external pressure switch on the line?

Ok let me ask a few questions. 1.You said U have A 1HP Sub. It pumps from about 300'. How did U get this info? 2.Now the water goes into A 120 Gal storage Tank from the top, then goes out from the bottom. Is Tank A Plastic or Galvanized/PSI Tank. OK NOW.BASED ON THE INFO THAT U PROVIDED.ON THE ISSUES THAT U R HAVING. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR TANK IS WATER LOGGED. WHAT THAT MEANS IS.YOUR TANK IS FILLED TO THE TOP WITH ONLY WATER. SO THE ONLY TIME U GET PRESSURE IS WHEN THE PUMP TURNS ON. NOW TO FIX THIS WATER LOGGED TANK PROBLEM.ALL U NEED IS AIR. SEE WHEN THERE IS AIR IN THE TANK & THE PUMP TURNS ON. WATER GOES INTO THE TANK.IT COMPRESS THE AIR WITCH CREATES PSI. Let me ask u another question. By any chance, before this booster pump was installed.Have U noticed your system turning on & off rapidly.Like all the time. How about your power bill.Has it been kind of high.

The booster should have been placed after you restrooms with a check valve to prevent back-pressure. then you can adjust both the sub-pump pressure, and the booster pressure accordingly

I have a 5.5 hp gas engine with an attatched pump for 300 gal water tank. I am trying to remove pump from engine. Impeller is stuck and flanges have broken. There is no center bolt in impeller. How do I...

try placing a couple of wraps of friction tape around the impeller body and use the Channellock pliers so you can grip it without damage.

I have a submersible Gould pump in a well. Recently air is getting into my system and coming out as irregular spurts. I replaced the water storage tank and the check valve, and the problem persists

Sounds like pump is not set deep enough and getting air. If the pump is as deep as it can go you may have to have to screen in the well changed or cleaned with acid pellets.

How does a home well water system work?

Deep well.
Pressure valve located on front of above-ground-storage-tank will turn pump on-off depending on amount of water pressure inside tank.
When water is consumed inside home, the pressure valve responds to the lower pressure and closes electrical contacts... sending electricity to water well pump located deep underground.
The pump turns on and lifts water through a pipe into the above ground storage tank.
When the tank is full of water, the pressure valve senses the higher pressure and turns off electricity going to pump
Pump shuts off.
There is a one-way check valve on the water line going down to pump, and this keeps water from flowing back down into well.
The above ground tank maintains water pressure for the house.
When pressure is reduced by taking a shower, the pressure valve turns pump on again, and cycle repeats.

When adding air to a pressure water pump ,i

Sounds like the bladder is gone or inproper air pressure in water storage tank.

Bladder goes bad check it out with step 1
1-
One way to check for sure with everything hooked up. The air valve on top of the tank if pressed you will get water out of the valve which should be only air. This will let you know it should replaced.

If Tank bladder is low in air and not water coming out.

2-If it checks ok put an air gauge to tank to check the air pressure, with a standard 40 gal tank you will have 28 psi of air in tank for it to function properly.

No water from drilled well, intermittent.

1-If everything has been replaced can you turn water off and check air pressure in the water storage tank. the bladder may be leaking and causing it to work some. A 40 gal tank should have about 28 psi of air in it. Also you can press on valve at top of tank to see if any water comes out will let you know if it's bad. Air should come out at top and no sign of water from valve on tank..

2-When you changed pumps did you replace the check valve in top of pump. Some pumps I have had to pull back up and add a check valve to pump.

Most pumps have a check valve on top with a retaining clip holding it in. And they work sometimes and some have to be removed and add a brass check to pump and connect to water pipe.

I have a waterace R4v 1/2 hp, the float goes out every couple of months, the replacement floats are very expensive.help!

Are you getting the correct rated current float. You might be getting a lower current float. Is is easy to find the current 1 hp is 745 watts, the formula is power = voltage x current so current = power/voltage Example 1/2 hp = 372.5 watts if your pump is working with 120 VAC.

So Current=372.5/120=3.1 Your current is 3.1 amps. I suggest you get a float rated for 10 amps. If this is your case with 1/2 hp and 120 VAC. Hope this helps

Water ace pump it will pump it out but it comes back in

Do you mean it won't pump last inch of water or so? sump pumps are not designed to pump completely dry. vane pumps will pump dry. If you are pumping from one tank to another and after pumping is complete, and fluids transfer back, install a check valve on output hose to prevent back-siphoning , or don't submerge output hose on other tank. Hope this helps.

Our submersible well pump is surging, comes on and off about four times until the pressure has built up causing the pipes to make noise what can we do to fix it?

this is extremely hard on the pump. i would say off hand that your pressure sw is bad or in need of adjustment. also make sure that your pressure tank is not water logged. you do this by cutting the power to the pump and draining the system. when no water comes out of the hose there should be no water in the tank. if there is if its a captive air "bladder style" you need to replace. if its a standard either your snifter vavlve is bad or your level valve in the tank is bad. good luck ive run off wells for years and know what a trying experiance this can be
