My lenovo T400 will not start up. The computer is plugged in.The battery and plug indicator lights are both green. When I push the on / off button the 2 indicator lights that are shaped like "houses" momentarily turn green and then turn off and nothing happens.

Did you follow Section 9 about fully charging the battery, pressing and holding the button?
Charging Instructions 1. Plug the charger into the mains - the charger indicator light will be green.
2. Turn on the battery by press and holding the power button until the green light is illuminated.
3. Plug the battery into the charger. The charger light will turn from green to red to indicate the charging process has started.

A less frequent situation that can happen in a laptop resulting in it not booting up is a damaged USB port. If the pins are touching the system will not start up. You can fix this problem by using a small flat blade screw driver, tweezers or micro needle nose pliers to carefully separate and reform the contacts so they do not touch. This is not a permanent fix because the USB port will become unusable. To fully fix it would require you to replace the system board, which may or may not be covered under your warrenty.

try to do this:
- remove the battery and charger (everything connected to the pc) then press the power button for 1 minute..
- plug back in the charger
- after few secs try to turn it on

Try to start the laptop without battery (remove the battery and plugh the adapter and switch on) if problem persists. Take it to the Service center , Becose your laptop motherboard may have some kinda SHORTS. best of luck
Hi guest, try to turn off the pc by using the power button. Then remove the cables and battery on the laptop. Then push & hold the power button for 5 seconds. Reinsert the cables and battery then turn on the pc.
Check if you will be able to shut down your pc using the operating system..
