Anomalous charging behaviour :- a) plug in discharged battery b) starts off with the yellow light flashing as usual c) after a very short time the lamp goes off completely - instead of staying on without flashing as it is supposed to do when the battery is charged. d This happens with two differnt batteries, believed to be OK. e) Disconnecting and re-connecting the battery induces the light to flash for another short period.- It then goes off again. f) This can be repeated several times. g) The camera indicator appears to show the battery as full, but I suspect this may not be the case. ***** Do you reckon the charger is really getting over the hill or is it perhaps just a failure of the lamp control circuit? Regards, Philip Minchom

Okay, might not be reading this right but here goes. If the camera shows the batteries as full then I'd go with that. The charger will come on for a few seconds even with a freshly charged battery because it take that long for the charger to realize the battery is already full. You can't feed an already full battery, so the charger is shutting off completely. Yes normally the light would stay on and the charger would continue to trickle a charge into it it until it is removed. In your case I think you have those batteries stuffed to the gills so the charger is shutting right down. One of the problems with these batteries is as much as the manufacturers deny it they form a memory. Best thing to do with these rechargeable batteries is drain them right down and then replace with a freshly recharged battery.

Is your Samsung SL202 flashing a yellow light and not charging its battery?

This is an indication that your camera has decided it needs to completely discharge its battery before the charge cycle begins it again.

Rechargeable batteries last longer and perform better when they are completely discharged before being recharged. This is normal.

I hope that helps.

Battery light flashes green 5 times, then changes to orange.

The flashing green indicator is telling you (and the notebook) that the battery is almost fully charged, but then by switching immediately to flashing orange, the status has changed to "battery charge is low". This is not normal behaviour and probably indicates a serious issue with the battery. My guess is that the charging is initiating some kind of rapid battery self-discharge.

Try to operate yours this way. This will eliminate the battery from the loop as a potential cause of the BSODs you are seeing.

Battery gets to 8% or so, I plug it in, it says it's charging but warning keeps flashing, screen dims off and on and then it shuts off. Charges fine when it's off. Seemed to work fine before.

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Ryobi charger model # 140295003 has a red and yellow light. When charging red light is on what does the yellow light mean? Also how long should the battery be left in the charger?

Hi,

The yellow light means that there still is an amount of charge on the battery, meaning that it isn't fully discharged. The red light means that it is partly discharged and you can charge it up.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

The light on my Roomba flashes amber very quickly when plugged in directly with the adapter. what does this mean? it usually flashes slower when docked.

If Roomba senses that its battery has been significantly discharged, Roomba will enter a special 16-hour refresh charge cycle. When the 16-hour refresh charge is initiated, the CLEAN light will quickly pulse red/amber. Do not interrupt the cycle once it has begun. The 16-hour refresh charge cycle is initiated by the robot and cannot be started manually.
For long-term storage, always remove the battery from Roomba and store in a cool, dry place. Blue or black batteries should be stored after Roomba has been used. Yellow batteries should be stored after being fully charged.
Battery capacity reduces overtime and usually the battery will need to be replaced each year.

My glowbouy flashes green and red...what does this mean

According to the owners manual for these swimming pool lights, this is what each colored indicator means. Hope this helps.

Solid green
The battery pack is fully charged.
Slow flashing green
The battery pack is almost fully charged.
Slow flashing yellow
The battery pack is half charged.
Medium flashing yellow
The battery pack is less than half charged.
Fast flashing yellow
The battery pack has almost no charge.
Fast flashing red
A charging error has occurred and the light should be unplugged and then plugged back in. If the Fast Flashing Red persists after several attempts, the battery condition is questionable.

Also in the trouble shooting guide, it mentions this:

Problem: Red Indicator Light Is Flashing While Charging

Solution:
A red flashing indicator light when charging indicates a selftest
error condition. Unplug the product and plug it in again.
Try this several times; if the indicator light continues to flash
red, unplug the GlowBuoy and take it to an authorized service
depot.

Toshiba Satellite A15-S129 PC Notebook will not turn on

I have the same problem. What I have found with mine is that if I can get the battery to take just a little charge then I can get it up and running. Here is how I do it. Disconnect AC power leave the battery in and start the laptop. As soon as thing start to run I plug the AC back in and it works fine from there on. Now mine is flashing as well now and I have a dead battery and it will not restart. Something I have noticed thought is it appears that the yellow light is blinking a code. This is what I have come up with. I appears to be flashing 323 as the code or could be 2 shorts 1 long then 2 shorts and then 3 shorts.

Anyone know where to find info on these flashing codes.

Thanks

Canon A540 flash charge not holding

Some of The Canon Powershot A530 and A540 cameras are subject to a advisory recall. Seems that a small spring on the battery compartment door can short out the batteries. Suspect this of yours, in that you mention that your batteries aren't lasting long. If your camera is on the list, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:
