I have a Lenovo T61p. I can play music on the CD/DVD player and hear sound on both the laptop speakers and on headphones through the jack. I CAN'T however get ANY audio when I play videos from the web. I also CAN'T get the computer to play any noises when I go to the Device Manager. Can anyone help?

If you right click on the sound icon down by the clock and choos "open volume mixer", are all of the levels even?

have you tried going into your master volume contro properties and turned everything up there. If you double click on your volume control near the time and go to properties you'll find all the controls there. Let me know if that works for you.

Audio static

That's pretty normal with built in connectors. For a workaround grab a cheap USB sound card from eBay or somewhere else. It worked for me.

Suddenly there is no sound in the speaker but headphone works fine..laptop is Lenovo B575

If the head phone jack works its more likely to be the problem, if you use the headphone jack a lot the connections inside it can get worn or bent out of shape--engaging the headphone jack should shut the speakers in the unit off.

Other possible reason is a bad speaker or connections.

Suddenly no sound from speakers

First, we must determine if the problem is with the speakers themselves, or with hardware or software of the computer. Try plugging a set of headphones into the audio out jack of your system (often times, this will be a green colored jack). Play sound on the computer while listening to the headphones, can you hear the sound? If so, the problem is with the speakers, otherwise, you need to troubleshoot software/hardware of the system. Another method would be to try plugging these speakers into the headphone jack on an mp3 player, mobile cd player, stereo, or similar device. Aside from the system not putting out sound, the speakers could be plugged into the incorrect jack on the system (not audio out, OR not audio out on the correct device), or turned all the way down.

most system has seperate audio ports for the speaker and the headphone but they are interchangeable. try plugging the speaker on the audio your using for the headphone. if your already using the same audio jack then try using another speaker, but since you mentioned that the headphone works then its possible you might need to replace your speaker

Sound Problem with Headphone

First try the headphones in a different machine, such as an mp3 player or cd player to make sure the headphones still work.

Try going to the start button, then settings and control panel. Then select "Sounds and Audio devices" Down at the bottom you should see "Speaker settings." Click the "Advanced" button and then select stereo headphones.

Then, place the headphones into the green audio jack (or the headphone jack up front if you have them), play some music, and then gently wiggle the jack to see if some of the sound makes it into the headphones. If not, try slowly pulling the headphones out of the jack while the music is plaaying. you might find that the jack has slipped a little and may play only if your connector is slightly pulled out or more firmly pushed in. If his helps, then your audio connector is loose and you should replce the sound card. If the card is on the motherboard, you can disabled it when you put a new card in.

Turning off the speakers

When you plug into the headphone jack, it should automatically override the speakers. This will be either a driver issue or a device faliure (headphone jack) Start by updating the sound drivers from Dell's support site. Then update your media player. If these don't work then it's the jack.
