1 or 2 page documents can be scanned and emailed. larger, 40 page documents get the error messages "transfer error" and "Job has been improperly logged"
If it was a memory error the copier would indicated this.
It may be due to bad line connection or limitations of the server, but if you are getting a log error, it is most likely a bad connection to the internet.
I'll have to call tech support on this one but I have a feeling that the job is too big for the copier to convert into a pdf file and send it out. It could be cause by lack of printer memory to handle the job. If the copier is hooked up to a fiery controller, then it would work because it has enough hard drive space to process it. You could try changing the format from pdf to another file format and see if that works or break the run up into two jobs.
There is a possibility too that the document may be to big for the e-mail server to accept. PDF files can be large files and some company e-mail servers will only accept files 64mb or less. The best way to find out is to sent the e-mail to yourself. If it accepts it, chances are thats the problem.
I spoke with NEC who makes a model that is identical to the Bizhub 350 which we are authorized dealers of here in South Seattle. NEC calls it a IT3530
According to the tech notes notes we haven't had any reports of any e-mail transfers issues or anything of a transfer error.
If the standard memory is the same as the NEC there is only 64mb or memory installed in the copier. For a 40 page document to be converted into a PDF using the hard drive and that amount of memory in the copier as a buffer, is pretty tight to begin with. That and when you are using it as a printer and a fax machine is quite a bit of things to happen on that machine and hoping it works without any hiccups.
The best thing to do is to contact your Konica/Minolta dealer and find out if you need a memory upgrade for transmitting pdf files that big or if there is a firmware update to correct the problem. There is an optional memory board available.
pdf files are graphic intesive documents and they do need some room to work with when the size gets too big.
