Pump not pumping

I purchased a DeLonghi with a pump, so that I wouldn't have to keep emptying the water bucket. Worked great for a while, then the pump stopped working and the pump light kept blinking. Had to empty the bucket daily. Took it apart (off waranty) and blew the lines with an air compressor. It started pumping again, but it was short lived. After about a week or so it went back to filling the bucket again, and the pump light was blinking again. I suspect a one way valve that I found inside.

It's not a one way valve, it's a water strainer. It has a barrel with a fitting on each end, the upper leads into the barrel, the lower has a strainer tube attached. When it's plugging up, it seems like a one-way valve because when you try to force water into the top, it pushes the lint and junk against the strainer screen, blocking it. When you try to force water in from the bottom, the water pushes the lint away from the screen, allowing a reduced flow. Some have an arrow; it's to indicate flow direction to keep the lint on the outside of the screen; the inside, being mush smaller than the barrel, would plug up much sooner. Before you replace the strainer, clean the lint & stuff out of the small pump reservoir (above the pump). If you don't, the strainer will plug up quickly again, if it can even get water to it.

I have bought a used replacement pump and barrel. First I swapped the barrel, still did not fix it. I replaced the pump, used pumps show up on ebay every once in a while. The new used pump worked great.

Place the old pump on a table with the two silver screws to the right, and I opened up the old pump, very carefully unscrew the two screws. Twisted it to get it off the nipples, and pulled it apart. If there are 2 springs inside the long chamber to the left you have a broken spring. The long little spring should be connected, through the shaft to a cap to the right. Mine spring broke off at the cap and the little piece was blocking the hole. The cap is fine, I need to find that spring. The spring I am talking about is about 1 inch long and fatter on one end than the other.

I have the same problem and I am glad there is a solution but can you tell me if I have to take the unit apart in order to access this valve acting as a filter?

It's acting as a filter. You have to clean it periodically.

Is there a special code to direct water to pump, dump bucket or drain

That would be the "Pump" button on the control panel. When you press it, your dehumidifier display should indicate "PUMP", and the unit should start pumping water out that little port at the center rear of the dehumidifier.

Alternatively, you could stand the dehumidifier on a counter and direct your waste water out the larger hose connection into a sink.

I personally carry it (more than five gallons per day) upstairs to the laundry, because it's distilled water - the softest water you can get. Works GREAT in the washing machine. 8) 8) 8)

For the others who follow

I have the same model, same problem on a 2 year old purchase made in 2014. This unit has a pump (and a hose) to drain the condensate.

The pump light started blinking about a week ago, turning cycling power worked for a while, until pumping stopped altogether.

After investigating:
-the hoses are not blocked but there was some algal growth in the tray which I cleaned
-the pump no longer pumps.
-my favorite parts suppliers and other on-line sources have no record of the model/parts etc.
-Called "whirlpool" consumer line in manual
-Whirlpool has been purchased by Garrison and that company has no parts for this discontinued model but did provide a phone number for the pump 800-799-0991. Unfortunately the cost of this small solenoid pump is $74.

I will drain the condensate via gravity to a floor drain as I don't see spending that much for something that broke so quickly and appeared poorly made..

My dehumidifier keeps beeping??????

The water tank is either full or not positioned correctly. Empty the tank and/or make sure it is positioned correctly (should fit perfectly and not bump out from rest of unit).

If you have it connected to the drain directly, your tank may still be filling up unless you have the PUMP button pressed (and PUMP is showing in the LED screen).

Good luck and please rate me.

De500p dehumidifier pump stopped working, help!!!

I only got as far as disconnecting the filter between the small water bucket and the pump. I was able to get the pump working again after I cleaned the water bucket and filter by flushing them repeatedly with fresh water. The lines after the pump contained cloudy water, but I figured since the pump was able to push it out past the pump already, it shouldn't cause problems this far down. It saved a lot of time and hard work not having to disconnet the rest of the tubing or take the water bucket off. I also realized if I disconnet the first water collection tubing from just under the front panel and point the open end down, all the water in the bucket flows out. This part is so easy to get to. Just pull out the big collection tank and it's right there on the left toward the back. I can do this every week! Maybe then nothing will sit long enough in the small water bucket to turn into any kind of filter-clogging material.

Water bucket

If yours has a button/switch to turn on a pump, that will redirect the water to the drain. Sllee

I had a similar problem with the pump not working and the water flowing into the main drainage bucket instead. I had to disassemble the housing...not an easy project to reassemble...and found that the pump has its own smaller drainage tank with a float device, a pump pre-filter, the actual pump, then of course, more drainage tubes. The entire pump drainage system of components needed cleaned of accumulated, mucoid, slime! I cleaned the channel in which water flows into the pump's tank...located on the screen filter side of the dehumidifier. Then I moved to the other side of the dehumidifier and cleaned-out the entire pump drainage tank. Note that the pump's drainage tank only empties about 1/2 inch of water each time the pump activates. Thus, there is always alot of water in the pump's drainage tank. Thus, alot of time for slime to accumulate. Next, I cleaned off the float mechanism. I then cleaned-out the pump's pre-filter. Cleaning out the pump's pre-filter was paramount to the pump functioning properly and quietly! I checked that my pump was properly installed and NOT rubbing against its mounting so that it operated quietly. I added fresh water to the pump's tank several times to insure that the pump was working properly and that all slime was eliminated. Finally, I reassembled the housing...not an easy task! My pump now functions like new. All this work had to be done to insure proper function of the dehumidifier's pump system. My dehumidifier is only 11 months old. It is still covered by the one year warranty, but it is too expensive to ship the entire unit, as Delonghi requires you to do at your expense for them to fix it under warranty. You can be assured that I will check for future slime build-up to keep my dehumidifier functioning properly. The dehumidifier works great, it's just that it's high maintenance.

Leak

Mine did this last year. I took the housing off of the left side and found a clear plastic tube had popped off the fitting, I put it back on and it worked fine. The tube was toward the lower front of the unit.
