Just cleaned our Thermador BICM24CS Coffee maker but we get an error message "empty trays". I emptied them, cleaned the contacts, reset the start button. Still has that error msg. If I remove trays the msg says "trays missing" which is correct. Anything I can do to fix this?

Re: Just cleaned our Thermador BICM24CS Coffee maker but...
Did you ever figure out a 'fix' for this? I am about to take a sledgehammer to this machine - the 'empty tray' message is preventing us from using it at all!

This just came up on our Thermador Savor built in coffee maker. I put descale in tank but accidentally pushed Clean button, rather than Calcif!! So I hit the off button...but it stayed lit green...and EMPTY TRAYS would not stop!! The trays were empty!! And I could not hit the on off button...it stayed lit green and EMPTY TRAYS continued. I had rinsed contacts, even. I can't find original answer in here right now...but I thoroughly wiped the contacts that are in the back of the tray...but there are contacts in the "front" as well. DUH! They are on the sides of front of tray. Wiped them down..lo and behold, EMPTY TRAYS went away, and now I am descaling the machine!! Oh, I also do the clean/calcif myself monthly, and I don't wait for the machine to tell me! I received this advice from foxy also. Life is good again!! Thanks FIXYA!!
Hi all, I have the exactly same problem on my Gaggenau CM470 however the drip tray is clean and the contacts in the back is also 100% clean.. I wonder if its possible to disable the sensor/switch on a CM470 ?
We had similar problem on our Z5. It turned out to be the two prongs at the end of the tray that were shorted out with dirty water. After carefully cleaning the whole contact area of the tray, the message was cleared. I would also inspect the machine itself where the prongs go in. Use a flashlight to ensure there is nothing causing the tray to misalign with the contacts. Somtimes used grounds gets stuck there and lifts the tray a bit.
I had the same problem and had success with cleaning the contacts in the back of the machine with a small nail file/emery board. I found that the contacts that are inside the machine had a little calisification on them. Once they were cleaned up no problem.
