I bougth reciprocating saw, model BJR 182Z and circle saw, BSS611Z while I was in the U.S.A.These tools use the 18 volt LXT Lithium-Ion battery BL 1830. I also bought this battery. However I am going to use them in the Europe region and don't have charger for BL 1830 battery to charge the tools.I read the rewiews regarding charger and notified that to use 110 Volt charger with converter (from 220 volt to 110 volt) created problems and died the battery immediately. Is this thru or not. Can I use converter (220 volt to down 110 volt) with original 110 volt original charger DC 18 RA or do I have to use original 220 volt charger not to face a problem. And can I find 220 volt charger in the U.S. If yes, pls give me model number. I hope, I could explain my problem.Thank you for your assistance in advance.

Why can't you buy the 230 volt DC18RA charger in europe (amazon.europe country) and use it. I had the same issue yet i burned out the fuse in the 110 volt DC18RA charger because i plugged it into the wall just using an adaptor. Lesson learned. Therefore, my first solution was that i bought a converter from 220V-to 110 Volt. This showed me that my charger was done. So instead of getting another 110 volt charger sent here to Europe from Canada, I returned the converter and have on order a 230 volt input DC18RA charger from amazon.de which has the same 7.2-18V output. I have been told this will work yet the fear, and I don't know why, is that it will burn out the batteries in a year or so. It is difficult getting specific information from Makita, but I hope it all works out. Best of Luck for you

What if both solid green and solid red are on at once

Hi Kevin

Try a different Battery

If it is a particular battery then it's probably faulty.

Lithium Ion batteries have a small electronic module inside.
This is a safety device. Because Lithium is explosive.
The smart chip watches for current in, current out & over temperature.
Lithium can also swell up etc.
The batteries can go bad & cause a fire

Saw stopped working, changed brushes, still will not turn

These are notorious for burning out the armatures. If you are comfortable opening the tool up you can tell very quickly - I have sent a link with the breakdown showing how the tool goes together.
Usually visual inspection is all that is necessary - if the armature is the culprit you will see it is burnt or even blown apart.
If the armature is the problem, most of the time it also damages the brush holder assy & it should be replaced as well.
If the armature is in good shape then your problem is the switch, but my experience would have you check the armature first. Makita BSS611 18V LXT Lithium Ion 6 1 2 Circular Saw Parts

How come my lithium 18v battery (194205-3) wont fit on my new Makita 6 1/2 circular saw?

I sell & repair the Makita line of tools and the BL1830 (194205-3) battery is designed to fit on Makita's entire line of 18-volt tools. You didn't give the model number of your saw so my best suggestion is to make sure the saw is an 18-volt tool then make sure the tool's and battery's mating surfaces are OK. Try the battery in other tools & try other batteries on the saw. If this doesn't help please respond with the saw's model number or what you found out doing what I've suggested.

Makita battery charger wont charge

If both lights on the charger are flashing it is indicating you have a bad battery and the charger will not charge the battery. The charger has circuitry that tests the battery and if it 'thinks' the battery is defective it will not attempt to charge it. The only way to verify whether it's the battery or charger is to try charging your battery on another charger or try charging another battery on your charger. Most of the time it's a bad battery.

Battery charges but is dead

The battery isn't any good. The charger is just going through it's regular steps. (I know how it is. I just bought two Ryobi 18 volt batteries for my Ryobi cordless drill, reciprocating saw, flashlight,
trim circular saw, combo set. $60 for two batteries)
