I have a hotpoint dryer model nbxr453evoww. when turn the knob to start it, it wont stay on.

It might be the start button not making contact or it could be the control board. It depends on the model, Hotpoint has made a few in the last 50 years. Whip your multimeter out and check the switch for continuity.

if it stays running when you hold the button in or turn it on there's a belt switch that could be bad.it's a safety so if the belt does break the dryer won't stay on.it's just a cherry switch two wires go to it and there's a white button on it the the metal arm that the pulley attaches to hits the switch,if the button isn't pushed in the dryer won't stay on.if that's good you'll have to get in there with a meter and start checking t-stats.hope this helps you out.

you will prob find the knob for the dryer has broken
so you turn the knob but it doesn't turn the switch
remove the knob which just pushes on and pulls off
and look at the shaft of the knob you may see it has cracked
if you do just replace the knob and you should be fine

The rear drum bearings could be going out, and believe it not, on some rare occasions the motor itself could make a chirping sound.

is the drum spinning easy ?with no metal to metal grinding sound ? could be the start run capacitor for the motor its black/ round and is on the side of motor //or the motor windings have overheated 2 manny times an swelled the windings ///the drum shaft sleave/bearing could be wore out or gone //the front drum slides could be wore out or gone //kinda need a little more info.. hope this helps.. let me know., an good luck

Replace the drum support bearing at the rear of the drum.

u should check the on off switch and the door lock

Hi. im assuming the buzz came from the timer knob(behind the knob). if so, this will confirm timer failure and, you will need to replace this timer control module in order to restore proper function to your unit.

If the buzz was located behind the start switch, replace as well.

Sounds like your heating element is on its way out. If you understand one it is just wires that coil around a shroud,over time it only has to get weak or break in one spot.I suggest replacing it.

raise top ck thermal fuse on element housing on rear wall top right side..also possible door switch ..if you have already verified breakers ok and unit has 220 volts
