I am looking for instructions on how to program "Speed dial" or Speed call" on the Meridian Nortel NT4x36. Its ancient, but its all we have! I have the instructions of: *78 (add allocated speed dial number) 9 (we require preface) (phone number) #. I don't know if the * is there to enter or if the person who left the notes meant it as a highlight! I don't know if the handset is to be on or off the hook. What is the "tone" if any to sound like if it is to be off the hook! Help please! Tammi

SOURCE: Hello. I have a M7310

What? They are either programmed or not programmed. If the button is blank, I'm voting for NOT programmed.

If your system is old enough, it's probably lost the backup battery. Ugly things, like pulse dial and only 2 lines are what usually happens, along with losing all of the button mapping but your 2 lines and the default programs of LNR, CONF, etc.

If it's just one phone, there's no magic recall. You'll just have to reprogram it. Same with the system if you've lost everything, but I"d call a repair tech first to fix the battery on the software cartridge.

Nortel Norstar T7316 programming extention to button. Won't let me program extension 230.

Just think about it, why would you want to auto dial yourself? You don't need an autodial key for yourself so the system don't allow you to program it.

Hi Evygal,

There is nothing to worry about it because this phone supports a speed dialing feature , which means that you can program the numbers in a way that just pressing them in a specific way usually for some more time than a usual press of a button will automatically enable the speed dial function and the phone will call the number that has been programmed on the digit.

A good idea to not face this problem is to quickly remove the finger off the button when you press it , because keeping it for long , just as long as one sec can enable this speed dialing feature.

Hope that helps ..:) Let me know in case you have any queries, would love to help you.
