Where can I get a manual for my K5M150PS 5Qt Artisan mixer. Do not have a manual. I purchased this mixer last Jan and just opened the box. Could I find out what speeds 2,4,6,8, and 10 are until I can get a manual? Thank you.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. You can download the 60 page manual here:
http://www.ambientedirect.com/skin/frontend/ambiente/default/media/2184.pdf

The pdf file is copy protected so I can not copy and paste the speed control page. You will have to download the manual. Rt click, save as.....

The speed control guide is on the printed page 15 (green page number bottom of the page)
The guide states you also can select speeds 3, 5, 7, and 9 by moving the selector in between 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

I have a KitchenAid 5qt lift bowl mixer from 2000 and have burned out the motor. Can it be repaired or should I just spend the money on a new one?

Without knowing which model mixer you have I cannot be specific as there are 5qt models with very different motors. Parts are available and the mixer can be fixed. Doing it yourself makes it much more affordable.

Service Manuals covering the two types can be found at:

Food processor attachment not working. Artisan mixer just keeps operating won’t switch to food processor

Artisan mixers do not "switch". The food processor gets power from the power take off (PTO) shaft under the cap on the front of the mixer and the mixer gets power through the gear box. Both get motor power all the time all the time.

To "switch", take the bowl and beaters off the Artisan. Remove the PTO cap and install the food processor. Tape up your sleeves so the mixer drive does not grab your blouse. Turn on the mixer (as usual), adjust the speed (as usual), and process away.

I have a Kitchenaid Artisan 5qt stand mixer that sparks and kicks the breaker when switched on. I removed the ground. Now, it comes on when plugged in, even when the switch is in the off position.

Please unplug it and leave it alone. The earth wire is a life saving device put there to stop you killing yourself if something goes wrong. It is not a little green wire that you can remove on a whim even if just for testing purposes. Your mixer is unsafe if plugged in without it.
The fault is unlikely to be a big deal as far as expense goes, a proper service agent will be able to locate the fault using their eyes and a multi meter. I would be looking for broken or partly detached wiring inside, maybe even insulation worn through somewhere.
Phone Kitchen Aid and ask who your local service agent is.

Just recieved the kitchenaid artisan 5qt mixer and doesnt work.. took it out of the box plugged it in and nothing but a light humming noise. Never mixed or moved.

Don't mess about with it, excercise your rights and let them sort it out under guarantee. If you mess about with it that will be an excuse for warranty to be denied.

The Kitchenaid Artisan stand mixer is spinning too fast after a voltage fluctuation.

Replace the phase board, that's the small pcb under the back cover with 6 wires coming out of it.

Kitchen aid mixer repair locationsi

Leaking oil is caused by the grease in the gear box separating. This often happens when the mixer is not used much and the grease is not kept mixed by the moving gears. The solution is two-fold. First run the machine more frequently. Second is to open the head and replace the old grease with an approved food-grade grease (6 oz. is the right amount). KitchenAid grease can be found online and at Ebay. The Service Manual can be found at:

http://www.kitchenaidparts.eu/documents/pdf/service-manual/classic-svc-manual-new-email-version.pdf

While the Artisan series is not specifically referenced, the procedures are the same.

You can also take the mixer and manual to a competent repair person.

Kitchenaid artisan mixer

The most likely answer is that you need a new speed control switch and there is a possibility that you may need a new worm gear. Can you give a more detailed explanation? What happened last time you used the machine?, what was happening when the problem occurred? What caused you to open the back cover? what else did you inspect or take apart or open up? Please send more info.

Kitchenaid mixer makes a lot of noise. The beater

Hi - I've been searching for general info on KitchenAid stand mixers and ran across this so I'm throwing my $.02 in... Since KA stand mixer bases are essentially made of cast metal parts, there is a very slim chance that there is a lateral misalignment (side-side) unless it got dropped...eek! Sounds like a head height adjustment issue. Check out this from KitchenAid Conversations:

Good luck.

We just purchased the custom kitchen aid stand mixer on a boxing day special. We used it tonight to make cookies and then could not remove the bowl from the base. We are going to try the icecubes. If this...

The bowl screws into the base and can get quite tight if the mixer has been turning thick dough or other mixes. We usually tap the handle on the bowl with the palm of our hand a few times and that generally frees it. The other posibility is that the bowl was put into the base slightly askew. This could be more of a problem as this can cause the base plate to get damaged. Usually though if this happens you would have noticed some bad noises almost instantly you turned the mixer on.
