How do you open nat type on the ps3 ? - Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

Nat type is actually defined by your isp..(internet service provider) some companies do not actually support gaming and therefore their service is considered "strict" by ps3 standards for multiplayer gaming online. You may have to reconfigure your pc internet security settings on the computer itself...possibly logging into your router/modem. If this is not helpful or u are unsure of how to do this, contact your isp and explain to them you want the nat type changed...basically they will either not be able to at all and then u need a new isp or they can do it in a matter of minutes and ur nat type will change and give u full access to ps3 online within a matter of hours...hope it helps and u get back to gaming!

I whant open in ps3

Hello,

I take it that you want to change NAT type in your PS3. To open NAT type you first need to get port numbers from PS3 people. Once you get the ports check what the IP add on the PS3 is.Once you have this information login to the router interface and punch in the port numbers and the IP add and your NAT type should be open.

Hope this helped.

I have a Motorola WR850G i am looking to open my nat type for my ps3 system i also have a DSL Verizon cable modem which i have open the nat type for that now I'm trying to figure out how to open my nat...

If your using a router, you have to ENABLE the UPnp within your router settings. Once enabled your NAT should be OPEN.
If you do not know how to get into your router, you will need to ask someone you trust to do this.

How do i change my nat type

go on a computer.

1. in the internet address bar type in 192.168.1.1 or routerlogin.net
2. enter admin and password in the fields
3. your now in your routers setup
4. find a setting called nat
5. set it to open instead of secure

this changes your nat type to 2
if that doesnt work

1. login to router as usual, but find a setting called default dmz server
2. enter the IP address of your PS3 as the dmz server (to see what your ps3's ip is go to network > connection settings and have a look.

this should definitley make it a nat 2 - but try the first method

My PS3 has no NAT Type!!

there is something known as NAT strict that can happen due to many reasons , NAT or network address translator helps in converting the WAN ip address to LAN side IP address or public to private ipaddress . In a case of NAT strict or no NAT type ur PS3 or the router to which you have connected the PS3 is not able to convert the IP address...
Solution: try logging on to the router manager or PS3 settings and enable the NAT ( it would be in a disabled state or DMZ ( de militarized zone ) state )....
If the nat is already enabled Then try to manually configure NAT by opening the port numbers on the router manager or PS3. Port numbers can of UP or TCP protocol depending upon the games ur tyring to play....
If u donno how u do it then contact sony or the people who gave u the router or ur ISP
