Try to hold down shift several times and reboot your computer. As soon as you see the lenovo sign shift again till you get to safe mode.. This might allow the monitor to stay on to trouble shoot ...If not you will have to call lenovo.

I think the LCD screen of your laptop needs a replacement because I think the backlight on that LCD is already busted thats why you need to point a flashlight or some sort of light just to see the display. Powerdraining your computer wont work because this already a hardware issue with the LCD, that's why when you switch display with your monitor it works fine. I would suggest replacing the LCD of that laptop or try calling Lenovo tech support if your laptop still under warranty so that they would replace it for free. First check your wi fi switch on your laptop is on.

That is either :

Faulty LCD ribbon cable or connector slipping off.

Faulty LCD screen.

Faulty video adapter on laptop motherboard.

To find out you connect laptop to an external monitor.

If the problem persists on external monitor, then you have a faulty video chipset on motherboard.

If the picture is good on external monitor, then problem concerns LCD panel , or LCD cable on laptop.

now replace monitor with tv. i consider that steps are common for both. you many need to use fuction key F5 / F6.
