Hello i need a replacement fan for a fx5500 nvidia card i want to repair this card not make it absolete please help me find a cheap replacement card is 5 years old fan just went out it locked up.Model DBS450912M dc brushless i love this card and want to keep it thanks for all help.

Chances are that you have bought a fake FX5500. Google it.
If your pc shows xabre 16mb then that is more than likely what you have.

OK, firstly, i will suggest that you take out the graphics card and give it a good clean. When the computer restarts during game-play, it is usually an overheating issue with the graphics card itself.

So, the thing is, if you take out the graphics card fro your PC, you will notice that there is a lot of dust on the cooling fan. Use compressed air to clean the fan unit. I would further suggest that you redo the thermal paste on the CPU of the card.

Caps can be replaced but we're not sure if only the caps are broken. Other parts may also be broken. Try replacing the caps

As per my concern if u want to replace & ugrade all the parts then u take a NVIDIA motherboard only because , the fx5500 videocard is of NVIDIA geforce company only thats why it will suit the motherboard itself & also nvidia provides 256MB onboard videocard so if u keep fx5500 videocard free it will be all right

probably that your power supply is not sufficient to handle geforce fx5500. you may try to install the latest driver for this video card or if not, try to check if upgrading your power supply will help

Hello Virna, i have that exact graphics card and dell GX270 desktop here at home, tho it has been awhile since i removed the Nvidia PCI card for a more favorable AGP card. From what i remember, first check your BIOS (hit F2 on startup) and select integrated devices, scroll down and make sure your default video output is either PCI (if available) or AUTO) exit saving changes. If that yields no result. Plug in a second monitor to your old integrated video output, if you can view windows after bootup from there, then you can install the proper Nvidia display driver for windows Xp (available here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_175.19_whql.html ). After installing, right click on the desktop, select properties, display settings tab, and make sure the Geforce card is the main monitor and the desktop monitor. Click apply, unplug the integrated VGA output, and restart. Hope this helps.

Pixel Shader 3 is a hardware feature. You can only get Pixel Shader 3 by getting a new graphics card, as it cannot be 'installed' with software. Please don't use all caps, it doesn't make people want to help.

peel back the sticker on the middle of the fan, and use a graphite based lubricant on the bushing.

Also there are smaller stick-on type fans that can be used. Normally for cooling chipsets.
