I have a Dell Inspiron 530. It will not start. Fans do not operate. Green pilot light on PSU is on. Amber light on mother board is on. Power button is glows solid amber.

First ,change the Fan,it can be heating problem...and also check the other hardware portion....

Solid amber light ON Dell Inspiron 530 desktop. The Fans start and stop immediately. The mother board has the power ON Amber light.

The Yellow Light of Death, anyway turn on Your PC, as it starts You will here some beeps especially on a Dells. Count the beeps , there will be a slight pause so it will beep once then pause then beep again. Count the beeps and that will be Your code. Go to Dell Support site and look up code. Most of the time a Yellow amber light means that there is trouble with Your Motherboard but thats not to say its the Motherboard itself, it could have possibly burned out Your RAM, Processor, Heat fan, even the power supply itself. So look up the code and at least You'll have a better chance of finding the solution, Good Luck

My Dell Inspiron 530 wont turn on

yes buy a power supply. I have seen hundreds of computers that have gone through storms. Remember a Dell usually uses a special power supply.
For a good deal look on ebay for your specific model, They almost always have "Buy it Now" deals.

Solid Amber light when starting the Inspiron 530 . Every time i start the Dell inspiron 530, the solid amber light comes on and it dont start. As per Dell user manual i have tried everything but of no use....

Amber led simplifies a start-up-error. This could be a number of things.

For example:

Check if HDD is connected properly

Check if RAM is connected properly / also if this is damaged your pc wont start.

Check your m/board for any loose capacitors an if they are not popped at the top.

Your LCD screen is properly plugged in to the m/board and if the cables aren't damaged they are very thin and fragile.
also could be the power supply...

Comp. powers on, shuts down three times then goes into powersave

You may want to check the power supply fan whether it works properly or not. Also, you may need to check your BIOS setup if you had done anything with it.

Computer locking at startup

If the LED is glowing Amber then there is definitely something wrong with the hardware. Open up the system and check to make sure that all cables are plugged into the motherboard securely. If they are, you have faulty hardware somewhere. I would take it into a repair shop and see if they can locate the fault.
