Fuji s700 camera, lcd display screen may be broken. when I power up the camera the screen is white with thin, balck lines running horizontally through 3/4 of the screen. the remainder of the screen is all white. I assume its cracked or something( my 2 year old likes to throw things), if so any suggestions on repair or should I just replace...

check lcd display data cable if cable is fine problem in display unit

Some cameras have a button to toggle the back light on and off. It is possible that the old screen damaged the back light drivers on the circuit board. It is also possible the new screen is defective. I have seen both scenarios.

Some camera only use viewfinder to shoot photo,The LCD is for setup and display photo only.Because it's off it will save a lot of battery power so that you can shoot more photos.Check it out in the manual.Have FUN!

I apologize, but did you check to see if the elexctronic viewfinder is active instead of the LCD screen? There is a switch to the right of the viewfinder labelled EVF/LCD and if you accidently pressed that then the LCD stays dark until that is pressed again when the camera is on.

This sound like a broken LCD screen. Does the EVF (Electronic View Finder) still work? If you can live without the LCD, your still in business! If not, replacement by a repair shop is the only other option. If you want to try it yourself, you might check ebay for broken S700's that have a good LCD screen but some other problem. Total disassembly manuals are available online through Google search. One site has every manual for any product you can think of, and if they don't have it, they will find it for you. Digital camera repair is NOT for the faint of heart. Cool nerves,steady hands, and no two year old's around are required. Tiny parts with even tinier electrical connections are the norm. The good thing is that the screen is nowhere near the lens assembly, so dirt ingestion shouldn't be a problem. An illuminated magnifier lamp would also be VERY handy.

Sounds like your LCD screen is broken. Did you drop the camera? You may be able to find a screen or a broken same model camera with a good screen on eBay. Changing it out, however is NOT for the faint of heart. You will need tiny tools to work on tiny parts with very small electrical connections, a steady hand and nerves of steel with a service manual at your fingertips so that you disassemble only what is needed in the correct order and don't do additional damage. Still want to try it? I recommend taking it to a reputable camera store and getting a quote to repair it. Weigh that cost against the cost of replacing the camera. In the meantime, switch over to the Electronic View Finder. Good luck. (FYI: I will undertake the repair of anything short of a nuclear device, but I will not try a digital camera of any kind.)

The only thing you can do is take or send the camera to an AUTHORIZED service center for replacement of the LCD screen. If you can live with just using the viewfinder, like in the old days, the LCD being broken should not effect the camera operation. Set the selection to the EVF (electronic view finder) position and this will stop the LCD screen from coming on. If this has helped, please rate it accordingly. Thanks and good luck. No fix except to replace the screen. Not a job for the faint of heart. You need tiny tools to work on tiny components and even tinier electrical connections. The proper sequence of disassembly and reassembly is VERY important. Get a quote from a reputable CAMERA store (NOT Wal-Mart or Best Buy!) and weigh that cost against replacing the camera. Gently used and even new S700's are available on eBay for good prices since the camera is no longer in Fuji's line-up (not in current production). If you can live without the LCD display, just switch over to the EVF (electronic view finder) and if that still works, you are in business. If you truly like the S700, as I do mine, repair it or replace it. It's replacement model and most others in Fuji's line-up have external lens movement, while the S700 is all internal allowing the use of standard 46MM filters and lenses without an adapter tube. Most of the newer cameras (without going to a digital SLR) are all external lens movement and NO adapters are available for filters, etc.

if u see white screen or noisy picture on lcd and lcd show info and signs and pictures also turn out to be blank when u see them on pc

dont worry i have the same problem with my Fuji S5000 i contacted fuji and they repaired it free of charge bcoz it is a known problem in thousands of cameras of different brands just call them in ur area and they will do it free of charge
